Not sure if I've seen any prediction threads in a while so lets take a shot at it. Make two predictions and you can pick a winner if you like. I will tally up the picks in a couple of days.

Boss' pick's

1. Pittsburgh vs Chicago. Hawks win

2. Boston vs Chicago Hawks win.

Agree, especially with the match-ups. The final result is a little bit tougher to predict since east doesn't meet west this year but I'd still say the Hawks are the safe bet as long as they don't get complacent.

With the shortened season a team with good momentum and young talent could get on a roll and run the table. Older teams will enter the playoffs banged up.

St Louis vs Montreal. St Louis Wins.

True a lot could still happen esp if a team gets hammered with injuries but the Hawks look so solid and have balance though out the team and the Pens look like they are getting stronger and stronger. MAF looks a little iffy right now and Emery has surprised the shit out of me for the Hawks. Maybe he has finally gotten his shit together.

Vancouver V Montreal (Nucks Win)

St. Louis V NYR (Blues Win)

Dark horse picks for the EC from me. I still don't see an elite team in the east. Everyone in here will pick Boston, but I'm not sold. Bruins resemble the same team that went out in seven games in round one, last season. Their powerplay is atrocious, and they take too many penalties.

I'm avoiding being a homer and picking my team. I am also avoiding picking the Hawks, because as impressive as the start to their season has been, it won't amount to a hill of beans when they get to the first round in early May and everyone remembers their goalies are still Razor Ray and Crawford. Are they cup winning worthy? I say, no way.

That's the same team that won the cup the previous year sans 1 or 2 players. Also, the year they won the cup their PP ranked 26th and they were 8th in penalty minutes. Didn't seem to bother them then. Fact is, Boston should be the clear favorite because they kill penalties as good as anyone and are one of the best 5 on 5 teams in the league. I don't want them to depend on PP goals. Pitt is the other favorite IMO. Everyone else in the east is a step behind right now and yes, that includes the Habs.

Washington won two of the four games in that series off powerplay goals. Regular season penalty kill isn't the same as post-season penalty kill. Just sayin'. :2cents:

Sure they did. My point is just 1 year before the Bruins won with a horrible PP while being shorthanded often. So in reality no regular season stats mean squat except wins and even then having the best record doesn't guarantee anything. Pens fans should now this first hand. IMO the Bruins are the most balanced team through 4 lines and that could pay big dividends in the playoffs.

Agree with you on the regular season stats meaning nothing. For example.. the Pens entered the post-season in 2012 with the 3rd best PK in the game. Anyone who watched their first round collapse knows how well that penalty-killing fared.

I don't mean any disrespect to your Bruins, BTM. Just stating my opinion. I also wonder what a post-season Rask will look like...
