Michigan is apparently pulling out the nuclear option to stop those Harbaugh to NFL rumors, creating something that's never existed before:

I have absolutely 0 concerns about locking Harbaugh up. It would actually be a bit of a relief and dispel some of the NFL rumors every single year. It would also show 100% support in Harbaugh.

Will this mean a lifetime of finishing 3rd or worst in the B1G East?

Dude is a proven winner at every level. He was 8-4 in his third year at Stanford and they extended him three years after that season which paid major dividends. He's competitive and wants to win and although he hasn't won this division yet lets keep in mind this is the best division in all football. I would give him a chance for sure even though he's kind of a D bag sometimes but he has the track record.

ND had zero concerns about locking Weis down for 10 years too, until they did

They should have. He had no previous head coaching experience and was just two years into his time at ND.

Harbaugh is 3 years in and has never won te significant game. Ohio State had that guy. John Cooper. You don't want John Cooper. Harbaugh hasn't proven worthy of a lifetime contract

If you say so. He beat the shit out of the B10 champ last year. And has immediately made Michigan competitive with OSU and MSU from year 1. And despite the arguments one way or another is a freak of nature play and personal opinion call away from being 2-1 vs. MSU and 1-1 vs. OSU.

I wouldn't even give Jesus Christ himself a lifetime contract. Usually it's a very bad business move, I guess we will see what the clauses and stipulations are tho if this is even real.

As of now, Harbaugh is just another Bo Pelini.

Can you imagine if Nebraska had given Pelini a lifetime contract after 3 years?

There are only 4 coaches ever that I would consider offering a "lifetime" contract to (whatever the hell that means), and 3 if them are already dead:

-Paul Brown
-Chuck Noll
-Bill Walsh
-Bill Belichick
