A powder puff game, but I was curious to see what Michigan would do.
1. Would they be stupid and just run the ball against an inferior team
or
2. Would they use the opportunity to open up the passing game and get Underwood some reps?
They mostly went with #2 thankfully. I was expecting them to be morons and have their head in the sand. Underwood had the chance to throw, I'd give him a B- on his game. He made a few elite throws, many solid ones. He made 2 bad throws, throwing into double/triple coverage that you just can't go for. He has to check down and live to fight another day... he looks like a guy who can fall into the Brett Favre mindset at times.
However, they also unlocked his athtleticism, and ran delayed designed runs where he absolutely shredded the Central Michigan D. Underwood ran for 2 scores and had multiple 10-20yd scrambles. They needed that last week vs. Oklahoma.
Overall, a good way to bounce back after a frustrating loss to Oklahoma. Nebraska's up next. I sure hope they do the same thing they did today and open up the offense from the start and have Underwood throw at least twice in the first 3 downs.
