The Heat have begun turning the page on the Wade era on the right track based on how they drafted.

Lets see what gems they find/mold with UDFA's and during summer league.

Not watching - as is customary for me the last few years, but pre-season Heat basketball is on!

With that, we are another step closer to the regular season -- And a fresh, new era of Heat basketball begins.

Again, I am not watching actual pre-season basketball - but I know some of you are. For those that are, who do you think will make up our starting 5 on opening night? Or, who would you want based on what you have seen/personal preference?

It should be Winslow, Herro, Butler, Leonard, and Bam but something tells me they'll give Waiters the job over Herro because he already been bitching about possibly coming off the bench

Is there an actual quote/tweet of Waiters "bitching" about coming off the bench. Like I said before, I am not paying much attention to pre-season beyond looking at the boxscore as I put myself through football season with the Dolphins.

Also, I thought I read that James Johnson was back with the team for the previous pre-season game? Did he play? How did he do? How does he look in terms of what got him in the dog-house?

Yeah there is but JJ didn't play. Tomorrow and Friday I expect him to play

Btw, I got a notification about re-joining the fantasy league from last year that you created. I don't think I will be able to commit so much this season to that due to personal reasons. If you have someone that would like to join, let me know how I can remove myself so you can give someone else a chance.

I read more about the Waiters starting/bench situation.

Erik Spoelstra seemed to touch upon the idea that a lot of our guys work just as well as starters and reserves. It seems he thinks of Dion as one of those guys. From what I gathered, he seemed to suggest what I would expect, and what he has for years from all his players in this organization - you have to earn it.

Waiters response seemed to be one of acknowledgement of the work he has to do in order to be a starter - while expressing confidence in himself in such a role. I don't see any "bitching" beyond him maybe voicing his displeasure with the idea of coming off the bench -- but thats an expected mindset of any player - especially one who has started in the past.

Either way, with Spo and the Heat -- in the past, we have seen guys who come off the bench get starter minutes and vise-versa. Dion knows this and should be prepared for anything. If he can stay healthy, I see this as a season that Dion can earn himself a bigger role on the team given the make-up of the roster this season compared to previous seasons.

Dion's comments on PT seem to be a lot more tamed than that of, say, a Hassan Whiteside in the past -- just to name one player.

Nothing to see here.
