Ryan Fitzpatrick was named the week 1 starter after the final pre-season game.

Rosen was the better(statistically) QB throughout the pre-season for the Dolphins and late in camp. That being said, Flores has seemed to be leaning towards Fitzpatrick at all cost for several weeks now.

I am not made with the decision. As I have said before - the way I look at it is this:If Fitzpatrick starts we at least have experience at the position. If Fitzpatrick struggles, at least the Dolphins have Rosen to fall back on who, while young, provides upside and untapped talent. The Dolphins want to eventually see what they have in him - and this will give him a chance to watch and learn a little more for when the Dolphins turn to him for that ultimate test.

Had Rosen started and struggled - the Dolphins would have had to turn to Fitzpatrick, who has made a career out of coming in as a backup - not just for a number of games but seasons as a whole. But would have provided very little in terms of long term upside.

In the end, the Dolphins QB situation, in my opinion, is as stable as its been in many years. Given the experience of one guy and the upside with the other.

Up next, final roster decisions/practice-squad - keep an eye out for that info on this thread.

Feel free to post any if you find that is related to week 1 of the season for the Fins.

The games matter now, folks.

Fins Up!

I like the Isidora pick up - as a Canes fan, obviously.

He started in 3 games early in his career with the Vikings and played in 21. He could emerge is a solid option at guard. He can also play some center.

Poling showed a little bit last pre-season and earned him multiple stints on the PS, but didn't show as much this off-season/pre-season.

Mbu was a candidate to be a surprise out of camp but it hasnt worked out that way - maybe he is brought back as a PS player.

With it clear the Dolphins are turning to their young talent on defense, Kiko Alonso has requested a trade from the Dolphins. This is absolutely great news. He has been the subject of recent trade rumors - in that the team was looking to trade it. Now, Kiko, is actually requesting to be traded. Hopefully this makes it easier for the Dolphins to just go ahead and make a move. Get what you can for him and its settled.

The Raiders have expressed interest in Alonso - who has also said he would like to be released if a trade can't be facilitated. I am sure the Dolphins will be - and should be - more than willing to comply with his request. But I think the Dolphins will first wait until they've settled their roster and see where they are at before making any such moves.

A lot of people cried and complained when the Dolphins acquired Dwayne Allen as though he was locked-in to the roster given the fact he was acquired. He ends up practically being a camp body as I expected.

He was expected to be a veteran presence for the team and TE room but injuries have gotten in the way. He was supposed to help the team get more accustomed to Flores' way of doing things. He won't be able to do it during the season - but I am sure he has had an impact on the team in training camp and pre-season while nursing his injury.

I thought that Tank would make it as he looked pretty good. They should keep Rudock on the PS if possible as he looked great. I like Jalen Davis too...

I agree with you on Tank - I just think the reason he was cut was due to the fact that the Fins want to go young on defense. I think this is the main reason he was let go more than anything else.

As for Rudock, he may have a chance of the PS spending on how the rest of the roster shakes out.

On Jalen Davis - I thought he would be a trade candidate rather than just letting him go outright -I don't think there will be room for him in our secondary despite his potential. Him being cut is just a numbers game situation.

Agreed but Hurns stayed and Ford let go I guess Hurns must still have some value when healthy. I'd like to see the final depth chart.

Robert Nkemdiche will be placed on the PUP list along with Cordrea Tankersley.

Dwayne Allen was let go with an injury settlement - he might be brought back at some point.

Ford has been injury prone since day 1 - he had promise as a speed WR - and might still but Hurns did make the most of the chances he did get. He is also a veteran WR who has shown his worth when healthy.

As a reminder, as many of you know - these moves are made simply to get rosters down to 53 - Practice Squad is still yet to be put together. Also, when teams make note of who has been cut, more moves will come from there.

This is only the early part of final rosters being settled.

Yeah lots of action left. Some of these guys like Kiko and Hurns may have been kept to trade instead of getting poached for free. I hope they can get something for Kiko if they don't want him.
