MHSL82, why didn't you tell me there's no more 20 second timeouts?

So how long have you known about the loss of 20 second timeouts?

Well, I told you as soon as I knew: NBA Rule Changes

Great find! That thread was on page 12 (not that you searched each page, but probably used the search bar, but I just wanted to see what page it was on).

So, broadcasters lied to us during every game, for decades. Telling us that a timeout was "20 seconds" when it was 60 seconds.

What do you think about this long deception we've endured?

It was clearly longer than 20 seconds. Shorter than a full timeout, I assume.

I think they should allow for timeouts to not actually spend the time, if the only reason for the time out is to advance the ball.

If the reason is because they trapped you, then I think that the whole time out should be actually taken.

How would you know the difference? One, if it looks obvious. Second, if the ball is in fact advanced or not.

I did always think it was longer, but I didn't know it was 60 seconds.

I thought maybe it was 25 seconds.

According to the link, full timeouts used to be 90 seconds, and "20 second" timeouts were 60 seconds.

Plus, since they kept calling it a 20 second timeout, I thought maybe they're right, and it really is 20 seconds.

We need to have a better discussion of rule changes, when they happen.

Like discussing if removing 20 second timeouts will result in more double dribbles by Bogdanovic.

Do you think Rudy misses more FTs now, that there's no more 20 second timeouts?
