Meteor shower tonight!!!

Who's with me!...if you can move your asses away from the computer screen for a minute the meteor shower will be very visible in the sky mostly after midnight...enjoy...

It's actually been going on all week. I went out to see a few on Tuesday night. It was absolutely beautiful. I was on an environmental retreat center site, and there was no light interference. The stars were so clearly visible, it was amazing.

Then, after an hour of watching, we star tipped. =P

EDIT: But, yes, the shower does peak tonight after midnight. Unfortunately, I'm back on campus, and there's a lot of light, so I won't have nearly the amazing view I did on Tuesday, but I'll still be able to see it decently well.

it was epic. i'm in northern michigan (been vacationing up here since i was like...5...and this is the FIRST time we've been up here late enough in the year to see the Peseid!) and we went up to the beach around 11pm...saw about 40 in an hour (not at the peak). we've been seeing around 15 or so the past 3-4 nights. there were some GREAT ones tonight though. be aware though, tomorrow is also supposed to be a great night for it.

Unfortunately, for once all the street lights in Meadville were working tonight, and I wasn't able to see as many as I would have liked, nor as distinctly as I would have liked, but I saw about 15 in the course of 45 minutes, which is a pretty nice pace. I guess the middle-of-nowhere retreat facility just spoiled me on Tuesday since they were all so big and clear and bright since there were no lights anywhere near us.

It didn't seem horribly cloudy, but I think the combination of the city lights and what clouds were in the sky made it hard to see. I remember watching it a few years back, and it was incredible. Our family has a cottage on Lake Michigan up north a little ways, I think next year I'm going to try and reserve it for this occasion.
