since I critiqued @averagejoe

here is mine... with my thinking at the time

1. Jeanty- I did see the red flag, but I did not see that it was expected to be season ending by most... so said, screw it.. let me take him
2. Hampton- would have probably still been my pick no matter what, as he is my other GOT TO GET guy... but when the board informed me Jeanty might be out for the season, I knew I had to get another RB...
3. Davonta Smith- I decided I was going to go HEAVY on RB, but needed to get a hero WR first
4. Judkins- at this point I decided that I was going to go heavy on RB, so I took my next best RB.
5. Tuten- just like previous, wanted to get my next best RB.
6. Mason- my RB attack doesn't end... and I am very high on Mason...
7. Hurts- QBs are now going fast, I don't love Hurts, but he gives me the upside of having a top 5 QB
8. Jacory- Back to attacking RBs... not really a fan, but he is technically their number one still... and wanted that potential #1..
9. Godwin- was very happy he was available still... I knew I was going to be very behind in WR, having someone that will be reliable early on in the season was my target...
10. Likely- I have drafted Likely in 3 of our drafts... he is my late round TE that I seem to go for all the time...
11. Mevis- I was having trouble deciding on defense and said, hey, I will just wait to get my defense... why not get a kicker in the 11th round
12. Jaguars- picking defense last round was hard, so I procrastinated.... I don't want to procastinate any longer...
13. Mitchell- Hampton was my 2nd round pick, I need to take his Handcuff... and I drafted him every year of his career so far... maybe he will have standalone
14. Blue- Cowboys handcuff!!! yay... I don't like Javonte this season... this could end up soooooo well... - already dropped and added Jordan Love

The Jeanty news really made me have an uncomfortable draft... and made me panic... that was definitely my fault for letting that happen...

But I also LET it happen because I knew the league I was in, a league where you can often find a starting WR on waivers during the season... a league where people love running backs, a league where we only start 2 WRs... I knew I could survive with an OK wr occupying my WR2 spot...

and even with my panic, I still ended up getting an elite QB...

But Now that Jeanty, seems to be on pace to play game one( I still expect him to miss at least a game), picking Jeanty is not going to hurt me... and depending on whether Likely and Godwin can be serviceable, I won't be in any hurry to improve either spot...


definitely have too much rushing, even in a league like this... but maybe the milkster will be forced into making a trade...

See. The flow of a draft can alter your targets. Sometimes what an owner deems as "best available" is better than reaching just to fill a need.

I said I panicked. That was a bad move by me. But you know in our leagues there is a big difference between rb and wr.

And I never said I had a good draft. My opinion of your draft has no relation to my draft.

I am ok saying I did not have a good draft.

There is. But i think thats something MBBRL does to itself. After all, it is still a standard scoring league. Without PPR, some of those middle tiered RB are not worth their draft selection (averaging maybe 30 yards a game; i.e. 3 points).

Sure.

Not actually sure what you are even arguing about.

I will definitely agree that we overvalue RBs in our leagues. But because we do, you have to make sure that you either have a strong starting rb situation or a strong rb bench.

And because we do overvalue RBs, it’s also much harder to improve on the waivers. WRs is not as difficult.

Having neither is just very scary. No matter how good the rest of your team is.

BUT. Again in your case, you don’t have a strength that separates you other than your WRs. Which of course will trickle down to flex as well.

Think it's kinda obvious which position you should want to flex in this scoring format, but I'm just a numbers guy

Dobbins
Skattebo
Hampton
Irving

Difference between RB3 and RB24 in points per game: 9.8pts

2 of the 11 WRs missed significant time
Rice
Nabers

Difference between WR3 and WR24 in points per game: 4.4pts

Definitely not missing out on a whole lot if you waited on WR, not sure i can say the same at RB

I agreed that RB are more valuable.
But our discussion stemmed from the fact that i took a 4th WR who'd end up on my bench before I took my 2nd starting RB.

With Monkey's stats in mind...

...by the time it got back to me in round 5, there were 27 RB off the board. In my view, it was no longer a benefit to reach for a timeshare RB when quality starting WR were still available.

I dont plan for injury.
But players miss time.

Of the top RB (ranked in the top 100), only 17 played all 17 games. (10%) Of the top WR (ranked in the top 100), only 14 played all 17 games. (8%)

Yeah, getting a third startable RB early is an advantage.
