To me this is the key word over the last couple of weeks. Not very often do you see a team change their mentality as much as the Broncos have this late in the season especially when you are one of the top teams in the league but that is exactly what this team has done.

On offense we have turned into the smash mouth pound it up the middle and force you to respect the run game. I mean we actually had more yards rushing than passing yesterday. That doesn't happen very often. Manning had a quarterback rating under 90 and we won. That is the first time we have done that since he got to town so again we have switched from completely relying on Manning to carry the team to letting others take some of the load.

On defense we finally saw Del Rio and company decide this is too talented of a group to just sit back and play base defense all game long. he finally mixed in some blitzes and dared the Chiefs to beat them over the top. We finally got to see what Ward was brought in to do and that was cause havoc all over the field blowing plays up. He is at his best running down hill and that is what he did. The whole defense just seemed fired up to play this style of defense. Every play was met with excitement. Just imagine what happens when Talib and Webster get back for the secondary how much more deadly this defense can be.

Now obviously lots of season left to play but loving the fact that the Broncos are so willing this late in the season to work on forming a better identity and learning from past mistakes. As bad as that St. Louis game was it seems to have woke up the whole team including the coaches.

Couldn`t of said it better Cd even if I was capable. The O line is having a blast and their finally getting to showcase their run blkg ability. I can`t imagine things will be much different here on out and they shouldn`t be either. Denver now has oppossing teams having to game plan to stop the run with Denver. That`s saying alot when you have Peyton at the helm and that great wr core. Finally Del Rio unleashed the D and it payed off big time. Going to be a good "run" test vs a very formidable Buff D next wk. Prob see the balance ratio lean a tad bit more to the passing game I have feeling. That being said, Id hate to be the DC trying to figure which poison to pk also. Great game last nite ( I have to beg to differ in the red zone though) but our new kicker sure enjoyed it. Go Broncos!:suds:

Very good points and dead on. This is the mentality on both sides of the ball they need to win a Super Bowl. I'd rather have this mentality from the Broncos then any record setting stats like last year. Just got to keep it going and don't let up. Keep dishing out the punishment!!

Increased commitment to both running the ball and to playing more aggressive defense have been the prescription on this board for several weeks. Glad the players and coaches seem to have finally taken our advice!

Hope this new mentality persists. Still a lot of work to do, beginning Sunday v. Buffalo, a pretty decent team with a very good defense.

In two games the Broncos went from 27th or so running the ball to 18th. That's pretty impressive. More importantly than the ranking, which includes season long production, is the actual output NOW. This is exciting to see. Buffalo is next and they are bringing a pretty impressive defense with them. The Broncos can continue to assert their new-found nastiness against another quality opponent and it will only further their confidence and momentum.
