From the article...

Saturday afternoon, Tucker publicly rejected interest from MSU on his personal Twitter account, saying: “While I am flattered to be considered for the HC job @MSU_football, I am committed to @CUBuffsFootball for #TheBuild of our program,” Tucker tweeted. “its great athletes, coaches & supporters. #UnfinishedBusiness #GoBuffs

I posted this stuff in the Luke Fickell thread, but I'll also put it here.

Just a reminder that in 1997-1998 Mel Tucker was an assistant under Nick Saban at Michigan State, and again under Saban at LSU in 2000, and of course at Alabama in 2015.

Tucker has 2 natties as an assistant: Ohio State 2002 under Jim Tressel, and Alabama 2015 under Nick Saban. Yes, that means Tucker was the DB coach on Mark Dantonio's defense at Ohio State in 2002.

Mel Tucker on Feb 8th:

Per The Athletic's Bruce Feldman:

According to Feldman, the deal will double Tucker's $3.2 million salary pool for assistant coaches, increase the Michigan State strength and conditioning staff budget and "more than double" Tucker's $2.675 million salary.

Damn....that's a pretty impressive offer.

Hehe.... money talks.

Bringing in a coach from a bottom tier PAC school never backfires.

Just ask Florida State.

Mel Tucker just took a job in what might be considered Chernobyl or Love Canal. They had to overpay.

Let’s not also forget, Hoke has a national title as an assistant.

Sparty must be swimming in cash, trying to make up for recent embarrassments, betting the come or totally committed to spending the money to compete.

Looks like a coach really doesn't have to win division/conference championships to get/keep a good gig and a high salary. Gotta keep up with the Jones' ya know.

Time will tell if it is a good investment or if Sparty bought a pig in a poke.

Money doesn't matter. Every B1G team has a ton of it.
This may be the modern day CFB version of a story from many moons ago. May not be a perfect analogy but close.

Reminds me of the story about Mercury Morris after he was arrested. Said something like "What did you expect? You give a young man from the hood a lot of money and he has no idea what to do with it, why are you surprised when he shoves a lot of it up his nose?" May not be the exact words but that was the message.

And, as previously stated, Sparty ain't the only one to do such. In five years this allocation may look like chicken feed. Who knows?

Funny that just yesterday Tucker made the rounds on local Denver radio talking about being flattered to be considered for the MSU job, but how happy he was to be at Colorado.

I'd be pissed if I were a CU fan.

Drunk Sark did the same crap during his last days at Washington. In many ways, it was worse as he obviously had a handshake agreement with USC behind the scenes for awhile and was noticeably behind in recruiting all fall. Then when he left, he took most of the recruits with him to his new gig.

Worked out really well for Washington in the end as we ended up with a bit of an upgrade at that whole HC thing.
But we all remember what a sleaze he was heading out the door and what a mess of a roster situation he left behind for the new staff to have to clean up.

Colorado fans have to be really pissed, but hopefully they can find a good replacement.
