At the risk of appearing redundant, let me ask, with respect to both the 49'ers and Rams. Why is it that other teams are able to build contenders within two or three seasons, and we are constantly in 5 year rebuild mode?

I am not sure to be honest. I honestly believe I could have run the team better. I have laid out reasonable free agent plans every year but whatever. Its frustrating.

In all seriousness, I believe we will make some bone headed free agent moves and have an average draft. Last year we used Scott M's board so lets see what we do this year. I hope we don't blow our cap on 2 over-priced free agents.

I think it starts with hiring a great coaching staff. Gruden has hired clowns to his coaching staff. I still have no clue why Joe Barry was hired. Phillips was clearly the better candidate. Its not that hard to be honest. Outside of this:

1. Draft smart
2. Sign good players to reasonable contracts.
3. Make smart trades for players that improve your team

I think that is what the Rams have done and will continue to do.

2. Have a staff that can spot and develop free agent talent

I would love to bring in high priced free agents but we cannot afford it. We have too many holes on the roster to fill and cannot blow it all on 1 or 2 free agents. Its just the state of the team right now. We have our cap tied up in players who have not performed up to expectations. Money doesn't grow on trees.

I also do not trust Bruce when it comes to picking out the right free agents for us. I just don't.

I think we screwed everything up by not making a solid defensive coordinator. That would fix a lot of problems. The cap room and drafting wisely clearly helps as well. I believe it starts with the top down but thats me.

You don’t build for the future with Talib at this point in his career. You are building for today.

No matter what, Talib for a fifth is a good deal. The Broncos are just freeing up money for Monday.

We had the money for Talib. We had the money for Garçon. I forgot what year it was but we were fighting for a playoff spot with 20 something million un-used.

Don't trade for or sign guys that are done, but Talib is lock down. Garçon was the heart and soul of this team. I love Talib and PG's. They compete. We ha e too many guys and sing too many guys that are entitled(Docton) or just suck.(Reyes)
