I don't think I was even realizing he was more than just dinged. Sucks!

Crap. Next man up I guess...

I'd be surprised if the Eagles made a big move for some high priced guy (e.g. Earl Thomas).

So would I. It is really neat to talk about....but I do not see it.

2nd this year and 2nd next year get it done?

Wouldn't want to give up much more than that. This defense is already tops.

Cap wise, they could structure a deal that is back ended, like they do all the time. If Howie/Doug want Thomas, they can get him.

Agreed on the back end loading.....certainly a solid tactic to use. However....I feel like this back ending is something they are holding some reserve on since they have a lot of cap cleaning to do before renewing Wentz in the future, and that contract (even with a hometown discount he could offer) will be heavy.

I feel like there has been subtle hints that wanting to be careful about back loading deals could be a reason BG's new deal is taking so long.

The FO is going to be threading a needle over the next few years cap wise. Do it right and we are likely solid for years. Do it wrong and....not so solid.

If there's a weakness to our defense, it's in pass coverage. Earl Thomas would put us over the top.

We have a history trading with Seattle, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of us being a legitimate dark horse in that race, especially with each week passing by and the drama between Seattle and ET getting worse.

ET even at 29 is in his prime and a future first ballot HOF - I would really think hard about passing him up.

Read up more on this....cap consideration is not even the big consideration.

Dallas has offered a #2 for him and been rebuffed. Possibly would take #1 to do it. Would we give our 2019 #1 for a guy that wants a long term deal on the back end of this year? Could we afford what he wants and still do what else needs to be done next few years?

Or would we be offering our #1 (or possibly both #2s) for a possible 3/4 year rental? We could likely get a #3 conditional if he leaves after the year.

That is a good good question. I am torn....I really want ET....I really want to be over the top.
But I still balk at using a #1 or two #2's for a less than season rental (possibly).

I think Jenkins is a SS, and McLeod the FS. I could be wrong.
