Didn't watch. Figured this would happen (not the KO, but the loss). You can't be away that long and just step in to face a top guy (no disrespect to Cowboy, but he ain't Poirier)
Dustin Poirier took the long road to the top. It really looked at one point that his career had peaked.
But now .....what a complete career it is and extremely well deserved.
Conner looks like a shell of his former self... Uninspired and fighting with no heart. He's still a decent striker, but just fights with zero edge anymore. He should just retire.
Congrats to Poirier... Not all that impressed with him, but he's tough. He clearly lost that first round, but he came on strong in the 2nd. I think he'd get his ass kicked by a more technical fighter.
Not only did McGregor get dominated in the octagon Kavanagh got outcoached. He was cocky in his interviews prefight. They thought it was going to be easy.
Mike Brown is a top level coach that they underestimated along with underrating how much Poirier had improved since the last fight. Poirier used calf kicks & McGregor wasn't ready. Poirier was the better counterpuncher and controlled the range. During the fight McGregor had no idea what Poirier was going to do. The early takedown through him off.
This was landmark because he KO'd McGregor. It was obvious that it wasn't a fluke. Poirier is simply a better fighter.
