According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Lloyd McClendon will be named the Mariners' new manager.

710 ESPN doesn't have anything on this yet other than the fact that the PBSJ tweeted it out. We'll see if it's true or not.

Just confirmed, Lloyd McClendon is the new manager of the Seattle Mariners.

Hopefully he will push the players development. Right now that's what they need.

The new whipping boy for Chuck and Howie.

What's the over/under on how long he lasts? I'll go with 3 years.

Best of luck to him.

He's in a precarious spot with Jack Z only on a year extension right now.

If he only gets a year contract himself, he'll be the scapegoat for this team's failures in October 2014.

Geoff Baker ‏@gbakermariners Sources: New #Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon got a multi-year deal. Jack Zduriencik will also likely be extended beyond 2014 fairly soon.

Baker is probably just trolling. Can't believe Jack Z getting an extension.

That actually makes perfect sense, John.

For this franchise.

Honestly I think its obvious that this was a no win situation. This hasn't been a manager problem for sometime.

I remember him having that tirade as the Pirates manager a while throwing a base or something. At least he should bring some fire which Wedge never did.

Did it truly matter to any Mariners fan who got hired? As long as Howard and Chuck are running the ballclub they have no chance at anything regardless if they had Sparky Anderson in his prime. There have been 2 non yes men in Mariners managing history, Lou and Hargrove. What do they have in common, when they said stay out of actual on the field business they quit.

Man I feel for Mariner fans. The guy has been train wreck in Detroit. He was so bad as hitting coach the Tigers had to hire Toby Harrah as a second hitting coach. If it was not for Leyland sticking with his cronies this guy would have been sacked years ago.

He had no shot at the Tigers jobs and that should have told your owner something.

I hope it works out for you I am just glad he is out of Detroit!

No not really, I mean thinking about I had a flash back to the movie Major League, the scene where the GM calls his what to be manger, and the manager respond's, "Ah I don't know Charlie, let me call you back, got a guy on the other line want some white walls."

Why shouldn't it, our roster moves from the last few years come straight out of the movie as well. "This guy here is dead!" "Cross him off, then!"

:laugh3: that boy blstoker you know what I'm talking about...

Too bad we don't have a gorgeous owner to entice the players to play, they do reward bad play with praise in the media and playing time like the movie though.
