Smyly scheduled for the first game so a sweep is seriously unlikely. Minor in game two and Jurado in game three gives us a chance for a series.

We have won 2 of Smyly's last 3 starts, his control and command are off and he's throwing too many pitches, which is to be expected for a guy coming back from 2 years of arm trouble

Also he's pitched in 7 games and 3 have been against the Astros, ouch

I felt Jurado deserves another look as a starter so agree with you on that.

Yeah, that 6.51 ERA for Smyly doesn't provide much confidence does it.

He has been pretty lucky so far too. A lot of starting pitchers with a WHIP as high as his is, would have a much worse ERA.

His issue is he rarely pitches into the 5th inning. His last start he threw 38 pitches in the first inning.

He seems to have no putaway pitch and a lack of control. What he’s known for is walking the bases loaded.

I’ve always thought players shouldn’t lose their spot because of injuries.

He may not be ready to come back that early. If he is ready, then I think it will depend on how others are doing. EIther way, they should clear roster space for him by the trade deadline.
