As much as I'd like to, it's hard to say it isn't Verlander.

Which of the following has had the best career so far?

As good as Scherzer has been, I think it's down to Kershaw and Verlander.

If you're in the thought where "best career" is defined by statistics, it's a very tough choice between Kershaw and Verlander. Verlander is a better postseason pitcher than Kershaw, but both have had very good success in the regular season.

If you're in the thought where "best career" is defined by Awards and accomplishments, the nod SHOULD go to Justin Verlander because of his World Series title. Both are 7 time all-stars, both have won the triple crown, both were Player of the Year, both have been MVP, main differences is that Kershaw has 3 Cy Young awards to Verlander's 1, Kershaw has 5 ERA titles to Verlander's 1 and Justin Verlander has an ALCS MVP award, Rookie of the Year award and a World Series Championship.

With that said, I'm gonna have to go with Justin Verlander.

I'd like to think that I don't just look at "hardware," but in this case, I guess I do, and I agree with you. The postseason success is enough for me to give Verlander the nod, even though Kershaw has been a significantly better regular season pitcher over the two careers.

No way Verlander. Verlander has been better in the post-season but Kershaw and Scherzer have had demonstrably better careers.

Kershaw's numbers are all time great good.

In order: and I don't think this is even debatable(even though some have tried)

1. Kershaw
2. Scherzer

3. Verlander

Verlander is not even close to the other 2... Not sure why he constantly gets grouped in with them...

Verlander gets way too much love IMO... He is seen to be a big time pitcher, which is a joke since he has yet to win a WS game, and has an ERA abover 4.00 in the WS...

How can someone be considered a big time pitcher when he has not been good in the most important games of his career??

Good luck winning in the postseason.

Hi variance in playoff performances.

Justin Verlander has all of one World Series championship that could have EASILY have been a Kershaw championship.

Curth Schilling is apparently better than Clayton Kershaw. Heck using the arguments you hear for Verland, Schilling is an all time great pitcher.

Because he deserves to be grouped in with them. Have you not checked his career stats and achievements lately?

200+ wins
1 full season away from 3,000 SOs
7 time all-star
2011 MVP
Triple Crown Winner
Rookie of the Year
2011 MVP
2011 Cy Young winner
ALCS MVP
World Series Champion
7-0 in ALDS
13-7 in the postseason

Scherzer doesn't have the career stats Verlander does and nowhere near the accomplishments/awards. Kershaw is a MUCH better regular season pitcher and has the stats to back it up, but his postseason struggles leave me leaning towards Verlander.

Who's said he's a big time pitcher?? I've yet to see anyone on here say that.

I know who I want on the mound with shit on the line. Hint: not Kershaw.

Who do you want for the other 200 innings that you need to get to that big game?

What does it matter what he does in the regular season if he can't win the games that matter, playoff games? I don't care what he does in the regular season as long as he can win me playoff games. He's 1 of 5-6 starting pitchers in the regular season. 1 or 3-4 in the playoffs. Kershaw is 9-10 in the playoffs. No thanks.

You Use 2011 3 times( MVP, CY, and Triple Crown)

Scherzer is a 3 time CY, compared to verlander only having one... And Scherzer has that consecutive season Bonus... He has 6 consecutive GREAT seasons...

But lets take away the consecutive bonus... and just compare Verlander to Scherzer(as Kershaw's regular season is not even debatable, it is the best)

Scherzer has 5 seasons with over 200 innings and under a 3.00 ERA
Verlander Has ONLY 3 seasons over 200 innings and under a 3.00 ERA

Scherzer has 3 CY
Verlander has ONLY 1(sure he has an MVP too, but that was the same season, cant count same season twice)

Scherzer has 2 20 or more win seasons
Verlander has only 1

Verlander has pitched for 3 more seasons, and only has 1 more AS game and One More 200+ SO season

Scherzer has a 300 SO season..

you say you don't call Verlander a big game pitcher, but you knock Kershaw for not being one...

Well, I would want someone that can actually stay healthy enough to pitch 200 innings. Kershaw has hit that mark once in the past 5 years.
