More that he knows not to expect injured people to return. I can bet he never expected Harrison, Feliz, or Lewis to make an impact, and planned accordingly.

I think most of us recall "experts" on ESPN talking about how we should hold out and not trade for a pitcher, and instead work on getting a bat because we would have so many pitchers return from injuries.

Yep, so much for "don't worry reinforcements are on the way." I took the "Pork Chop Hill" mentality. Fight with what you got and if the reinforcements show up, great but don't count on reinforcements to win your fights.

There is much to say about an organization that can endure adversity...friction

How does this affect next year? Back surgeries take time to heal. Obviously Matt isn't ready. The second surgery is what did it. They should have just tempered all hopes of a return then and shut him down after that.

Feel bad for Harrison. He had really improved as a pitcher over the past couple of years. Really high hopes for him to have a big year this year. Pretty amazing that the team has fared as well as it has mostly without its opening day starter. Hopefully he will have is back in good shape by this spring.

Clearly room for both, isn't there? A rotation of Darvish, Holland, Harrison, Garza, and, hopefully, Perez might be pretty formidable.

Seems to me like a solid Plan A. Always nice to have an alternative or three in case of injury or ineffectiveness, though.

That will be the best 5 man rotation in MLB in my opinion...and we need to sign our entire bullpen back to support them....Cotts, Frasor, and even Nathan...lets do it! Best staff in MLB right there!
