I, as a Cards fan, think Adams was wrong in giving a little glove to the dude but it wasn't anything malicious and the fan gave Adams it right back with showing him the glove and some smack. I think it's just good natured banter/ribbing on both sides. However, his shove could have caused greater issues because it was determined that the person who made the catch, had recently recovered from knee surgery and that shove could have aggravated something.

I think the league should fine Adams and remind players that there is no laying of hands.

Well put.

Potentially aggravating something is a risk you take when you go out in public. That shouldn't be a factor.

There's a pretty big difference between Ron Artest going into the stands in Indiana and players high fiving fans as they go in and out of locker rooms, dugouts, etc. There are plenty of good reasons for athletes and fans to have physical contact and I think it's silly that many are taking such a zero tolerance attitude. It looks to me like Mike Adams was just having fun with a fan and that fan gave it right back to him. Some people are acting as though Adams went Ron Artest on the guy. That just didn't happen.

Edit: I mean Detroit, right? The Pistons were home?

The fan is lucky it wasn't Derek Jeter.

Jeter would have dived into the crowd head first and speared him - making a fairly routine play look diffucult...

If this was Joey Votto in Busch Stadium, the Cards and especially that whiney fuck Yadier Molina would be going off.

Touching a fan intentionally is unacceptable in any sport. If Adams doesn't at least take a fine, or a 1-gamer, he should probably take one right in his back next time we play.

Can you even imagine if Brandon Phillips had shoved a Cards fan? First he'd have to deal with the roid rage of Roidier Molina and then the outrage of the baseball universe for daring to make contact with a fan of God's team.

"I don't care if Derek Jeter is 97 years old, he's the only one who can make that play in all of baseball. Superlatives escape me at this time to properly describe his greatness." - McCarver

Philips would be labeled a thug and the media would be all over it.

I'm sure we'd be hearing from Tony LaRussa and every other bitching player or coach ever associated with St.Louis.

I wonder about it from the other angle....what if it was the fan that gave the same shove to Adams? Would the guy have been escorted from the stadium? good chance.

LOL i came in to comment on the play. But gotta say theres some top notch trolling going on! Anyone who takes a shot at jeter is a friend of mine, (why is he getting gifts from teams!!!) Molina,,, im a M's fan so dont care but if I was a nl central fan i just know that guy would piss me off.

Anyway back on topic. It looked like it was his natural reaction. like ahh shit, get out of here with that type automatic movement.

But, had the fan done that, he would of been kicked out and arrested. So he needs to be suspended a game or two.

It was a very light shove, but he shouldn't have done it at all. Suspend him 1 game. End of story.

Yeah, exactly. No need to make a federal case, but a player shoved a fan in the stands. You can't do that. Period.

Again, had the teams been reversed, Cards players would have been fucking OUTRAGED and we'd have to have a little dustup over it. Cards player does it? Silence.
