I know that this has likely been discussed in the long thread about the offseason plans, but I haven't been reading that and it's now too long for me to catch up (for what it's worth, I apologize for that, but I doubt I ever make it through War and Peace, either!). Anyway, I was just reading about possible trade targets and a name that really piqued my interest is Cardinals 1st baseman Matt Adams.

I have really rooted for Mitch Mooreland and it seems to me that he has been on the cusp a few times of showing that he is capable of becoming a good every day player who can also hit lefties. I still won't be surprised if that happens, though I have some doubts, so I'm curious what people think about trying to acquire Matt Adams, a young lefty with a lot of power who I also think has tremendous potential.

There seems to to be a trade potential there for profar+ for Miller and Adams. We have discussed it quite a bit at length, but now the cards are saying they want Elvis. Still not off the table imo, but the cards would have to up the offer and imo taveras probably had to get involved at that point.

Interesting. I wonder what besides Elvis and perhaps Mitch it might take to get Adams, Miller, and Tavares.

They already have a log jam at first base so Mitch wouldn't interest them.

I don't know a lot about him, but it seemed to me that he was a really nice fill-in after Craig, who had been having an amazing season, got hurt. Can't remember exactly, but I think that he hit third or fourth down the stretch for the Cards when they were in quite a battle for the division. I know that Adams came up with some big games to help them eventually win the division.

Like I wrote in the OP, I still think that there is a chance that Mitch becomes an every day 1st baseman with a lot of power, but Adams also seems to have a lot of potential. Not really saying that we should give up on Mitch and go after Adams, but rather just seeing what others think.

You mean OR Tavares, right? It would take Elvis+ for Tavares alone

That's nonsense right there

If it was Andrus for Tavares straight up, that would be a bad trade on our part, proven commodity with a solid at, albeit no power, for an unproven OF prospect with an injury history is a bad trade

So a starting All-Star MLB shortshop that most teams would give an arm & leg to have...isnt enough to bring back 1 OF prospect?!?!?!?

:L

I've read/heard it all now.

this is the same type of guy who says your opinion is no more right than his, and wonders why people discount his opinion consistently. :L
