Mark Ingram: Breakout Player or Fool's Gold

I'm having a difficult time assessing what I've seen out of Mark Ingram.

In his preseason debut, he rushed 8 times for 83 yards and a touchdown...and he looked amazing. Don't take my word for it though, you can see for yourself.

Will Mark Ingram have a breakout season, or is he just fool's gold? Let's take a look at what we know about Mark Ingram:

• The reports are that he and Khiry Robinson have passed Pierre Thomas on the depth chart.
• He is in a contract year, which is always an extra incentive to go off.
• This was just a preseason game.
• In 3 years, he has a career high of 602 yards and 5 touchdowns.
• He plays on a passing team. In fact, New Orleans passed 77% of the time last year, which was 2nd only behind Atlanta.
• There were a total of 155 RB receptions last year between Mark Ingram (4.5%) , Khiry Robinson (0%), Pierre Thomas (50%) , and Darren Sproles (46%).
• Darren Sproles is no longer on the team.

What do you think? All input would be appreciated. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm buying in or not with this guy.

Breakout season??? compared to what??

The things against him-
1.Pierre thomas is the best WR Back on the team and one of the best in football
2. Khiry Robinson is the young "fresher" running back
3. Saints throw the ball a lot...

I don't know if I'd call it a breakout or not. . But I do think he'll be the best guy in N.O.

Never put a lot of trust in any Saints RB. .... you'll only be disappointed. You'll be guessing all year.

A few times last year he looked the part of a strong runner. You could see he was running hard. I think the problem is his head gets inflated too fast. I noticed after a big run he would jump like crazy like he just won a gold medal. If he can tone that down and just keep running hard and keep his head down then he could be a special player like everyone thought he would be out of college. BUUUT my gut is telling me that is not very likely to happen
