Kinda sad that in 45 years of team history, we've only had 10 instances in which a catcher had 15 or more home runs in a season. But, Raleigh could turn out to be the most prolific homerun hitter among catchers, in Mariner history.

Man, I miss Dan Wilson... wish we had him now.

Highly underrated catcher.. I think his health kept him from being a more notable name.

I think Wilmer flores..may be the best player..the mariners could add..
In the offseason...espeicially..if haniger

I agree with you, but on the other hand with how they try to limit catcher's workloads, it does make it more difficult for a catcher to put up big HR numbers as opposed to other positions.

Raleigh actually leads the majors in HRs for catchers with just 15 right now.

I would say the same about Kelenic but his batting average is the weight of your average runway model.
Kelenic isn't going to make it here. Maybe a change of scenery will help him, but it isn't going to happen here. He'll get traded this winter. It will be interesting to see what Dipoto gets for him.

Doubt he will be traded this off-season now with Toro getting sent down over him. This deadline was his highest level of a trade chip since pre his first call up.

Agreed. Limited workload and playing the most injury-prone position on the diamond, other than pitcher.

I've watched every one of Kelenic's ABs so closely, and I can see why scouts fell in love with him and why he has been shit. When he makes good contact, he absolutely obliterates the ball, but as a hitter that's all that you can say about him that's good. Facing major league pitching he can't hit breaking balls, works himself into bad counts, when he gets a good count he swings at garbage, I can go on and on.

What I have noticed of late is he just jumps on first pitch to keep from striking out. At least that is my guess on it. That is not a good place to be.

His approach at the plate is like he's playing a video game. He'll swing at everything, thinking he'll make contact, or he'll swing at nothing, thinking he'll get on base. Then when he gets into a hitters pitch, he'll swing at anything.

It's frustrating. I really want him to do well because he was so well regarded, but man, I don't see it happening. If he was getting out by hitting hard balls, I'd have hope. But he hasn't done anything that gives me any hope.

Yep. I also noticed that he still tries to pull every pitch even with an open stance. If he would step into an outside pitch and drive it the opposite way, he might get a hit now and then.
