Elway If done with Manning would just state that he loses no creditably ?? It is his team .. I think he is fine if Manning comes back . It might be a very cheap contract that is offered as a back up . but I am positive Manning is wanted at the right price .

We seen enough to put Oz as starter next year .. Manning knows that himself .

A GM that has won as much as Elway has the right to move on after all that went on last year and no one would judge him not even Manning .

Look I think Manning might play next year why not ? If so he has that right .. We have that right to sing a QB we plan on being our starter .. Signing Oz does not mean we are doing anything with Manning other that telling him he will be the back up or he can find a team that is interested in him being their starter .

Why the hand wringing ....I get it Manning deserves time ..but enough with the smoke being blown.. Add on a year and that makes Manning a back up .

I highly doubt Manning would want to sign for back up money. He is only coming back for another year if he can start in my opinion. I would think the pride in such a player would be too big to be demoted like that from the get go. Throw in I just can't see the Broncos wanting that headache like we had this past year of who is the starter? You know it will happen after Osweiler has a bad game at some point of the National Media and fans going "When is Manning going to come in?" Osweiler if signed needs to know he is the starter and that isn't going to change unless his play is just so bad that they have no other choice. Throw in the money side of things. The Broncos are somewhat limited financially. They need a back up most likely making $3 million or less if they are paying Osweiler say $12 million. I can't see Manning willing to jump down to that amount.

Unfortunately I just don't think there will be enough to keep Manning around Denver much longer. His family and his wife's family live nowhere near Denver. They also have much deeper roots with other teams and owners/FO people. So unless they made him an offer he just couldn't refuse I just don't see it happening.

Also does anybody remember when Bowlen tried to sell part of the Broncos to Elway for dirt cheap but he turned it down. I think it was like $15 million for a 10% stake in the Broncos. The value of the Broncos last I checked was just a hair over $1 billion. So that 10% stake now would be worth over $100 million.

And sorry I was looking at a very old evaluation of the Broncos. They are now worth closer to $2 billion. So we are talking about a $15 million investment less than 20 years ago that would be worth close to $200 million now.

Didn't that cause a stink in the league? The Raiders claimed that it was an illegal contract inducement. I'm trying to recall.

Well it would have been Al Davis raising the stink so wouldn't surprise me. I do know the previous owner Kaiser sued over the deal. I think part of the deal when he sold the team to Bowlen was that if Bowlen did decide later to sell part or the entire team away that he had to first come to him and make the offer first.

Yes - that was it - that was the issue.
