Major League Quality

I’ve been using StatHead this 2025 season to pull up my Rockies dismal OPS+ & ERA+ and stumbled across this when I forgot to set the league filters to AL & NL, like I usually do. I’ve got flak for saying the ***** Leagues are not major league quality and their record keeping and league scheduling is very lacking, compared to the AL & NL 1901-2025. I’m very glad that the ***** Leagues are recognized now as Major League, but let’s be honest about the quality. The Rockies OPS+ of 71+(29% beneath lg avg) are 3rd worst ever after 62-games, trailing only the 1901 Boston Braves & 1920 A’s who have an OPS+ of 69+ & 70BUT when you add in the ***** League teams, the Rockies are #38 worst team, with 36-teams belonging to the ***** Leagues. Like I said, I’m happy that the ***** Leagues are recognized as Major League teams, but it is more political, than being honestly of major league quality.

The worst modern day MLB lineup I can think of is the 2013 Marlins. They had a 73 OPS+ and scored 513 runs. That was with Yelich and Ozuna making their MLB debuts that year, but neither played over 80 games and Stanton only played 116.

2010 Mariners only scored 513 runs, but had a 79 OPS+. Pretty wild that they had a team ERA+ of 100 and went 61-101. Meanwhile, the 2025 Pirates are on a 100+ loss pace with a team ERA+ of 108

The N-E-G-R-O Leauges ran approximately 1920-1948 for a 29-season span, but dominate that screenshot, that has a span of 125-seasons. Then look at the different amount of games they played for a season.

How many fans would know that the Rockies have only had one season with a team OPS+ over 100 but have had twelve seasons with an ERA+ over the baseline 100 with the hitting at Coors Field?
