Sad news for the Rays. They loose their front office head and their manager.

You've gotta remember this is the Cubs we're talking about.

Meh. I think they're putting themselves in a better position to win than they ever had.

Epstein is an experienced FO man, with a track record of success.

Maddon has shown to be effective at managing young talent.

They're one of the top revenue teams in MLB with a comparatively small payroll recently, so they've been reaping strong profits. Cot's has them with only $31MM on the books for 2015, so they've got a ton of cash to spend if they so choose.

I'm not guaranteeing anything, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see them in the playoffs in the next three years.

Given the fact that the MLB playoffs is rife with crapshootidity, I think it's a fool's errand to predict which teams will make or win the world series. Of course, I do it every year, but you have to be pretty damn lucky to get it right.

No doubt. I actually expected the Rangers to be strong contenders this past season. :noidea:

Maddons' first day on the job? Goes to a Wrigleyville bar for day drinking and doing Harry Caray impressions? Yeah, not a dewshbag. :L Not at all.

I predict things go from "he's a character" to "he's an asshole" by the ASG.

In all fairness, a number of them inherited playoff caliber teams....Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals all won 90+ games the year before Girardi, Francona and Matheny were named manager. Not to mention, the Dodgers were just 2 years removed from a 95 win season with Torre before Mattingly became manager.

They'll be involved in a childish public spat before pitchers and catchers report.
