Madden NFL 19 Deep Dive: Franchise


FUCKING FINALLY.

I haven't bought a Madden game since EA dropped NCAA Football because my favorite thing to do was play the college game, import the rookies into Madden, and play a Madden franchise with real players. 2k's got around the NCAA rules by allowing the community to make rosters and draft classes and have been doing it for years. Now Madden is finally catching up. I may just purchase a Madden game this time around.

19 will be a turd with incremental changes, with a heavy emphasis on Ultimate Team so they can see you cards packs after you’ve already spent SIXTY dollars on the game. Same reason I don’t play FIFA anymore. Give me NHL or footballmanager

EA is basically at an all-time low right now. I make fun of Madden but I think the last version was the first that actually went backwards. They turned all of their full price games into free-to-play games that still happen to cost $60.

I'd give their games another year to turn around. Its hard to turn around your entire companies philosophy.

I 'might' buy Anthem and thats only if it gets good reviews and thats only because I still have some respect for Bioware. Everything else thats EA right now is on hold when it comes to my wallet.

Online play is stupid af. If I wanted some 10 year old to shark me into believing it's tight for 3 quarters and then score 35 unanswered points against me in the 4th, all while calling me a faggot and threatening to fuck my mother, I'd hang out at my sister-in-laws house.

I hate the Ultimate Team concept. It has all the right reasons to be great... but to truly be good enough to win tournaments or seasons you have to

A. Find "the play" that is basically uncoverable on defense or unreadable on offense
B. Buy MUT points to get higher ranked players faster
C. Have consistently good internet that doesn't give you lag spikes at the absolute worst times
D. And obviously be good in general... but the 3 above factor in way more than just being good at the game.

It's finally coming to PC.. but unless the guys over at Football Idiot/Freaks mod it like they did with Madden 08 (Madden editor, can edit anything mid season like removing injuries, real draft classes - user created, custom game rules, graphics, and DAT database access), I wont be playing 19. Madden 08 has way too much customization and ability to mod anything on the fly. All Madden 19 offers is better graphics which some may argue are not that great. The players in the latest installments run like they have to dump ass... it doesn't look natural.
