Wow I've never seen a franchise like the Eagles implode so quickly.

Wow, I've never seen a franchise run more into the dirt. If they sacrifice the farm and trade up for Mariota that will complete the novel for "How to tank a franchise".
This is the Chip Kelly way.

What happens to Hali? Can they afford to keep both with Poe on the horizon?
Hali just took a paycut. He seems pretty convinced the team can win a SB citing victories over the Seahawks and Patriots in a local radio interview a few weeks back.

The team has roughly 70M in 2016 cap space according to overthecap.com.

Not sure what all the math looks like after Bowe/Maclin and what not, but that should be enough to take care of Poe, Houston, and a few others unless they are hellbent on leaving.

Good landing spot for Maclin. Should help the chefs get their first WR TD in what... Almost 2 years?

Is Maclin going to be returning kicks for KC?

Really unlikely. They already are well taken care of in that department with De'Anthony Thomas and Knile Davis. I doubt they'd let 11M return kicks.
Just curious. Dave Toub is the best in the business and that means ST news for KC is always relevant.

Looks like Chiefs could be in some trouble for having this all done a little too early.

You can do that kind of stuff when your QB is not making $100 mil...I wouldn't trade Ben for Alex, but boy, it would be nice at least ONE edge rusher the caliber of Hali & Houston.

Indeed, it just seems really unlikely to me when what they're doing now already works pretty darn well.

2nd in the league in Kickoff Return Average at 28.0 behind Baltimore (who just lost Jacoby Jones) at 28.3.

4th in the league in punt return average at 12.1.

Wow I've never seen a franchise like the Eagles implode so quickly.

1) Lose your best weapon on offense for a ? on defense (that played behind the NFLs best front 4).
2) Lose your other best weapon on offense 'because'.
3) Overpay for Mark freaking Sanchez (giving more than backup money).
3a) If you're really going into the season expecting Mark Sanchez to do anything but ride the pine, /facepalm
4) Overpay for Byron Maxwell (Flowers/Jackson are better corners and received MUCH less)
5) Bring in Frank Gore and overpay him (guy is 32 with nearly 2,500 carries under his belt)
6) Cut Trent Cole (because reasons)

Wow, I've never seen a franchise run more into the dirt. If they sacrifice the farm and trade up for Mariota that will complete the novel for "How to tank a franchise".
What about the 49ers? They ran their coach out of town and have basically completely gutted the team.

KC gets $7M of cap room with Tamba Hali restructure. 2015 salary goes from $9M to $6M. 4 voidable years added for bonus proration purposes.

Hali's 2016-2019 contract years void 5 days after Super Bowl 50. KC will have $4M of dead money in 2016 because of Hali's $5M signing bonus.

Tamba Hali can earn back his $3M pay cut through not likely to earned sack incentives.

The restructure of Hali's deal should move the # chiefs to around $4M-$5M under the cap before counting Maclin signing
Dorsey can Cut Bowe, push Alex's contract bonus out and open another $8M, Chase can be cut, Berry's money could not count towards our Cap.
Bowe: $5M or $11M
Alex: $8M
Chase: $3.8M
Berry: $5.45M
That's $22.25M to $28.25M Dorsey could still open up if needed.

Had that copied on my copy and paste when I added it to the KC board, figured I would put it here. (And I was right, I did put it here. Just kidding.)

one can certainly hope...

now would you like Dwayne Bowe...for cheap...?
My jaw would drop if Bowe took the prerequisite paycut in order to stay. Maclin as the Z with Bowe in a #2 role would make me giddy knowing Albert Wilson/Dat could be in the slot.

hell, one good year GOT him that payday. if only he was bright enough to know that if he was consistent he'd actually be WORTH top dollar...

I will say, the Chiefs paid too much for Maclin given his past injury. And before someone bashes my post (because they are a Chiefs homer), Seattle WAY overpaid for Harvin and the trade itself considering his 'issues' was pretty stupid as well. So yes, my comment is bias aside.

Hey now, I am certainly a homer, I won't hide that much.

They are tied to him for two years, the next 3 years are pretty much the Chiefs saying you don't suck with the way the contract is structured- it's heavily backloaded. Furthermore, the way it is structured, they can keep BOTH Bowe and Maclin AND be under the cap if they choose.

Take Maclin’s contract:
only 12M of his 22.5M total guaranteed is actually signing bonus (spread over all 5 years).
The rest is a guaranteed 2015 and 2016 salary, so I think that means they hit the cap in those specific years only.
