I think we're going to see this more and more with younger guys who get banged up and decide to walk away. For a lot of these guys if they're smart with their money early, they're set for life

Or you could be like Mark Brunell and lose all your money and have to be back up QB as a long as possible

Kuechly--->:what:

no but seriously, loved watching that guy play the MLB position, sucks to see him go but can't help but to respect his decision to look out for himself. One of, if not the best ever, high school football players to come out of Cincinnati.

Good decision, the timing gives his former employer enough leeway to plan for replacements, if that guy is not on their current roster. None of that Andrew Luck, Sterling Sharpe stuff.

Anyone here familiar with the reach of the NFL's concussion team? Do they offer professional advice to the players? Is that a individual team thing or are these decisions left entirely to the players and their doctors? Thanks in advance!

Even at the HS school level you won't see coaches advise kids to not play for their own good. Can't tell you how many I have seen take pills to get past the pain so they could play.

I’m sorry that that’s been your experience.

All of the HS around here have dedicated head trauma doctors on the sidelines of every sporting event, and routinely pronounce kids “out” when they suffer from concussion like symptoms.

I wasn't speaking of concussions. What pill would you give for a concussion ... aspirin? :what:

The whole thread is about Kuechly and his concussions, so you bring up something else.

Clearly that was MY mistake, sporty.

Aspirin for concussions. Good one.

Well, when I was playing, they used to pull out the old smelling salts.....and then ask how many fingers. If you could answer, you were going back in. Remember?

I disagree with that.

There are definitely some scummy coaches out there who do that, but the majority care about their players’ safety. At least all the coaches I know well do.
