Yet another member of the 2015 squad is gone. I'm sad to see him go, but totally respect his decision, he's taken a real beating in the 8 years he's played for us. Good luck and godspeed to him in his post football endeavors.

I had a pretty good idea he would retire early. All those collisions and tackles took a toll on his body.

Great player. Sad to see him retire early, but walk away while you still can.

Man, he did have some nasty concussions though... Probably just felt it was time, despite his age...

Smart move. Granted didn't see it coming but he wants to be able to enjoy life and actually remember it. Wonder if this will start a trend of players calling it quits early. I know Calvin johnson, Gronk advanced few others have but I think we will be seeing more players retiring before 30

Great player. Good luck to him. Sucks for his team and fans. My Colts just went through this with Luck. I think it is a trend we'll see continue. Players will make $15-$40 million and figure they are set for life.

Well, shit.

Good for him, bad for the Panthers. I know Rhule is going to be bummed bout this, as a former Linebacker himself.

Yep, and yep. Make lots of money, don't waste it, put in your contract time, and then walk away.

NFL players already have the shortest career spans of any major sport, it's just that we don't often hear about the no-name players hanging them up (or being cut, more likely). It's a shock when a great player in their prime does it but maybe we shouldn't be surprised anymore.

People acting like he is smart and got out at the right time. If anything he stuck around too long, he should have retired after he was sobbing being carted off the field from a concussion. The damage has been done and he stuck around longer for more damage to be done.

He's fucked.
