They need D and to sign a veteran or 2. Goal isn't exactly the strongest position for them either. They could certainly use some size up front because they have a small team.
Think it might be in their best interest to sell the pick for a nice package including a top defenseman or 2, veteran forwards, goalie etc.
Looks like Yakupov is the top player in the draft.
They already have young forwards. They should be able to become a playoff team with the right trade.
Somebody on the main board had an interesting thought. Oilers swap the first for Nash. Oilers need a big body up front, and adding Nash addresses that, they get a franchise type player, a guaranteed goal scorer and somebody that can take pressure off of the younger guys.
Columbus gets the top 2 picks in the draft and free up enough cap space to sign 2 legit free agents. I like it for both sides.
columbus needs a goalie though. depending on what happens in the playoffs if the nucks get bounced early or the rangers do. the price will just jump big time for nash imo. canucks have schnieder to deal rangers have more defense and youth to deal.
they would need more then just a 1st for nash even if its the top
It's their best move at this point. They have some building blocks in place now they need to get some depth or address an imediate need. If I'm the Oilers I'm going all in for Suter this summer.
