This one is interesting because it certainly may have benefitted one team having all of their biggest road games in two occasions.
Broncos
In the previous year, the Broncos lost a pair of back to back road games and won a pair with a weaker division rival on the latter side. They won against the Giants and Cowboys and one of those games almost went the other way. However, they weren't so lucky against both the Packers and Jaguars.
For 2026:
Jaguars/Rams
49ers/Chargers
Jets/Raiders
The toughest ones are the first two. I expect a split against the Jaguars and Rams. I can see both losses to the 49ers and Chargers, but it's possible the Broncos can take one. As for the Jets and Raiders, the Broncos should win both games as both teams are much inferior but they haven't been blowing out the Jets as bad as they have been. I expect 2-3 losses out of these six games.
Chiefs
I will only go over the games before Mahomes went down. KC played a three game home stand that they actually swept. It helped the Lions were coming off a road win and the Commanders were coming off a road game against a tough division rival. A bye divided the Bills and Broncos games which KC was not better than either at the time and as we saw it wasn't the Chiefs or Bills year. They were on the way to taking the lead against the Chargers after losing to Houston when Mahomes went down.
North saw to it KC would get all of their toughest games bundled together to improve their odds.
For 2026:
Broncos/Colts
Dolphins/Raiders
Seahawks/Broncos
Bills/Rams/Bengals
Patriots/49ers
The first two games against the Broncos and Colts could determine how far KC goes. I think KC will beat Seattle or Denver and they will certainly take one of the Bills, Rams, and Bengals. It isn't often a team plays three straight elite QBs on the road. The surest thing are the Dolphins and Raiders being wins. I think NE and SF are wins but if KC loses to only one of LAR or Seattle I think SF beats them. With SF on extra rest and the Chiefs on short rest after playing the Pats, that could be an upset. However, I don't think KC splits both home stands. I think KC has 3-4 losses here and they may be the only games they lose with how the schedule was set up.
Raiders
I'm not going to get into the previous year too much but want to point out the Giants/Chiefs being a split which I wholly expected when Mahomes went down week 15. The Raiders were bad enough to where they could lose back to backs at home. They have made serious improvements but their division and a tough schedule stand in their way.
For 2026:
Chargers/Saints
Bills/Rams
Jets/49ers
Broncos/Browns
Chargers/Broncos/Titans
Cardinals/Chiefs
Just about 75 percent of their schedule are these games. They will likely lose to both the Bills and Rams, but it's not impossible to steal the Saints, Jets, Browns, one of the home division games, and Cardinals. However, each of those have a clear loss so the Raiders could win these games regardless. I don't think the Raiders take every split. But I give them 4-5 wins. I think they beat the Titans being at home three straight weeks.
Chargers
In the previous year, the Chargers split the Colts and Vikings. However, they won against both the Raiders and Eagles as well as the Chiefs and Cowboys in the road when it was crunch time and the two teams fates had been decided. But the Chargers had a lot of alternating home and road games which may have contributed to an 11-6 record.
For 2026:
Cardinals/Raiders
Bills/Seahawks
Chiefs/Bucs/Rams
Jets/Patriots
Lately, there have been home or road sweeps against the same teams from a division. The Browns lost to both the Pats and Jets. Usually teams have split these two. The Chargers could win both, but I'm going with the split here as the Chargers are not really better than the Patriots. One other situation is weeks 6-8. I do not see them beating the Chiefs or Rams, and that leaves the Bucs unlucky. The Chargers will likely beat them sandwiched between the two tough games. You can see a home sweep followed by being swept on the road the first four weeks. But they very well could split the Bills and Seahawks that early. The Charges have 4-5 losses here. The Chargers have taken at least a win in their last 9 back to backs so if that holds it could be 4.
