So he wasn't trying to take a pay cut to play for a winner, ouch.

I wonder if any caps fans really care that it looks like Vokoun isn't happy with his new location/contract?

Yeah, players usually don't like to play below market value. Especially at a quarter of market value...

Well, I don't know if firing his agent means that. It certainly means he wasn't happy with his agent.

He might be pleased with where he is, but dissatisfied with the job his agent did in landing him a higher paying job PRIOR to the signing with the Caps. I don't know how his agent didn't have him out there more as THE top goalie free agent before free agency even began.

Tough to say. I'm not concerned though. He's going to play his best and try to help his team go as far as they can.

basically this. I also think he's more pissed about the contract not the location

I guess I should have said "contract situation" instead if "location". I don't think that he is upset playing for a winner and finally getting a taste of the playoffs.

I also don't think he has any choice but to play his best. His next contract depends on it.

Really? I think he is a better goalie than Howard, and I say that with no disrespect to Jimmy.

Plus Osgood retired :peace:

I like Vokoun as well, but it is what it is when it comes to goalies in Detroit. Jimmy didn't just show up, the organization had invested years in him before he hit Motown, and that was the plan all along.

And speaking of Ozzie, he will still continue to educate Jimmy for years to come.

What's he going to teach him? How to drive a well oiled, highly tuned, balanced tired Porsche without crashing?

;)
