Most of the OU fans that I talked to after the game were pretty gracious. They gave credit where credit was due. It was bizarre. Everyone from both sides was just kinda of stumbling around the stadium and the parking lot completely stunned. No one could believe what they had just witnessed and were still processing everything.

As pretigious as the Fiesta Bowl is, OU has obviously played for bigger prizes in their school history. Boise not so much. But it was an amazing game and finish. It really was, reduced me to tears.

Kind of a funny story. A few years after that, I walked into a Circle K wearing my Boise hat. The loser behind the cash register making minimum wage gave me a look and said, "Nice hat." I couldn't tell if he was being serious or sarcastic, so I said, "Oh, are you a fan?" He responded with, "Hell no. Never. I'm an OU fan. I ******* hate those guys and I hated that game." Now this was just a day or two after BYU had shut down OU's offense at Jerry World and Boise had kicked Oregon's ass in the opener, an Oregon team that won the Pac that year. I just laughed and said, "Nice effort against a mediocre mid-major in BYU last weekend. Got the shit kicked out of you in the trenches by a bunch of white mormons and had your star quarterback thrown around like a rag doll." He didn't have anything for me. Listen I get the fact that OU is a fine program, one of the best with history, tradition, and national titles, but I have to admit I walked out of that store with a big ole smile on my face.

Things can change quickly, especially for a team from a non-power conference that doesn't have the tradition, money, and resources that the big dogs have. We'll see it next season yet again when OU starts most likely around #5 with a shot to make a national title run and Boise starts off nowhere near the top 25. Such is life for a fan of a smaller school!

When the ESPN boards toppled, I don't think Dixie slept. He was too busy recruiting for SportsHoopla with all his anti-SportsHoopla spew. Nothing resulted in more members here than Dixie's ceaseless bullshit.
