and they were talking about trading m young to boston for will middlebrooks and they got so excited by that potential trade. never once did they mention cody asche or maikel franco! FYI middlebrooks is hitting .260 something at pawtucket after completely bombing out for the sox at the beginning of the season. absolutely clueless sports talk radio!

Well, Middlebrooks could be a pretty good player. A lot of people think he's still working through wrist problems that put him on the DL last year.

Who knows, though.

I realize that middlebrooks can still turn out ok....but my point was that asche and franco are 2 very good prospects that should be given every opportunity to succeed with the phillies.

I'm all for a middlebrooks/young involved deal. Young is old, has awful defense, no pop, and is leaving at the end of the year regardless of whether or not he is traded. Middlebrooks is only 24, cheap, and is only a year removed from slugging .509 in 286 plate appearances. He will need to work on his sub-standard defense, but i'd welcome a guy like him to philadelphia.

And I'm sure Middlebrooks could learn to play a corner outfield position if he could hit. I have no facts to support this claim, but if he can hit and asche/franco is playing third base, I am sure the phils would at least try to convert him
