DE - Reggie White
DE - Deacon Jones
DT - Cortez Kennedy
DT - Allen Page
MLB - Dick Butkus
OLB - Lawrence Taylor
OLB - Jack Ham
S - Charles Woodson
S - Ronnie Lott
CB - Michael Haynes
CB - Deion Sanders

I see your thinking in putting Kennedy in the middle. I thought about the need for a huge space eater too.
I ended up going with Merlin Olsen who at 300lb had no gut and could easily played at 315/325lb if needed.
He also is estimated to have had over 130 sacks and he was a scholar with no bad habits, the guy didn't have a weakness.
Butlkus has to be considered, but I went with Ray Lewis, both were elite among elites.

Not on my team.
If I added a return specialist he'd get serious consideration though.
Even not considering Haynes' tackling and blitzing ability, he was the best DB in man coverage to ever play the game. Woodson wasn't quite as good in man, but he was extremely good in every facet of the position.

I felt that Deacon Jones was the better player and having two guys from the same team on the same line in the best of all time. That just doesn't seem plausible to me.

Any current, snoody uppidy, football know-it-all, knows that any all time defensive lists need to include mike, sam, will, buck and jack LB's......Doing a straight 11 is so non-progressive of ya'll.

Deacon was a great pass rusher for sure.
His job was made a lot easier by Olsen being double teamed and pushing the QB out of the pocket.
I've listed Deacon on other all time 11 starters' list.
I put Bruce Smith in his position now because not only did he have 200 sacks, he was among the greatest against the run.

PT.

Simply the best cover corner.

I might take Deon over Hester to have a great nickel DB as a bonus.
It's too bad Hester wasn't used as a receiver more in Chicago, he has shown he could have been really good since coming to Atlanta.

Haynes was the best in man coverage I've ever seen.
He perfected bump and run, he was the most efficient CB ever, he truly shadowed receivers' every move.

It's too bad they had to make him a receiver IMO. That and the rule changes stunted his return-game, which for all intents and purposes SHOULD'VE been even more ridiculous than it already is.

What he did in his first two years was unprecedented. Dude was SO fun to watch as a returner.

He could change direction on a dime at full speed, no doubt the who was fun to watch.

@TeddyJackEddy

Great squad.

I've got a few repeats but enough difference to post it. I agree that Deion was not as complete as Rod Woodson and Mike Haynes, but I'll modernized my team.

DE...Charles Haley
DT...Reggie White
DT...Joe Greene
DE...Bruce Smith

LB...Derrick Thomas
LB...Lawrence Taylor

FS...Dick Anderson
SS...Ronnie Lott
CB...Mel Blount
CB...Rod Woodson
SlotCB...Deion Sanders

I would play those 11 the whole game and dare you to run on me.

I saw him too.

But Deion was pure.

They would be my 2.

I'm not sure what 'pure' means in context, but Haynes was incredibly efficient in man coverage.
I agree either could shut down their man though.

Not as complete but an unparalleled pure cover guy, in my opinion.

Ham is my modern hybrid OLB/ S type.
Let's face it, no offense that has ever been together would do much with either of our top 11s.
I'll do an all time starting offense Monday.

It's just my opinion, but Haynes gets my vote for just man coverage as well, but it's very close, both were phenomenal.
Among current or recent players Darrelle Revis plays man brilliantly.

I'm a huge Jack Ham fan as welll as Lambert...I took Jack off the field because some many teams have gone with 3 WRs and hybrid TEs...he would still be effective imo, but 5 DBs got Deion on the field.

Agreed...teams would have a hard time moving the ball consistently against either one of those 11s we put out there.

Ham had 32 career ints just dropping into coverage when needed. He was good enough in coverage to play safety.
