Yeah, exactly. They were incredibly lucky by the amount of upsets.
Like I said, even somehow discounting a championship appearance in a 64 team tournament (huh?) Michigan still has significantly more appearances than Syracuse; both have a single tournament championship. To argue Syracuse is a better basketball program historically is arguing so void of actual accomplishments to suggest so.

So what you said earlier wasn't true as I said.
It's exactly true. They were runner ups twice; ever. Michigan has been to the championship game twice just in the last 10 years. Key to my point, "runner ups". They've been to the tournament championship 3 times total, they've won once and were tournament runner ups twice.

Got nothing I see, okay then.
Franklin career record: 69-36 (3 years at perennial cellar-dweller Vanderbilt)
Malzahn: 62-30

Franklin bowl record: 4-4, best bowl win is the Fiesta Bowl
Malzahn: 2-4, best bowl win is either the Music City Bowl or Birmingham Bowl, not sure which one is less shitty

Did Syracuse get sanctioned for their tournament win for buying players though?

Michigan didn't either? Michigan got hit for a couple championship game appearances in 92 and 93. We won the tournament in 89.

I dunno, Don Martin's relationship with the program stretched back well into the 80s.

But he wasn't even associated with paying all of the fab 5; it was really just a couple of them from what I understand or maybe even just Webber.

So there was a connection then. I don't recall Syracuse having sanctions.

We've been tournament runner ups more in the last 10 years than Syracuse has been in it's entire history....but carry on.

2 is not more than 2.

Syracuse should not be in this discussion. They don't even play baseball.

Malzahn was the one I was debating. Their resumes are pretty similar IMO.

I'd probably lean Dantonio but his last couple of years haven't helped.
Other than Saban, I'd take Dantonio over anyone in the SEC. Kirby Smart has done fine, but he's at fucking Georgia. I'd like to see him do that at Michigan State. Or vice versa, I'd love to see what Pat Fitzgerald could do at UGA. He'd probably have at least a couple National Titles by now.

Jalen Rose admitted to accepting thousands of dollars from Martin in the ESPN 20:20 that he produced, so at a minimum it was 40% of the Fab5.

But wasn't it only like $5,000 as apposed to Webber's more significant amounts?
