Lions release T.J. Lang

Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released G T.J. Lang.

STATEMENT FROM LIONS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER BOB QUINN AND HEAD COACH MATT PATRICIA

“We would like to personally thank T.J. Lang for his two seasons with the Lions. He represented everything you could want from a football player and team captain. We all publicly saw him perform on the field at a very high level, but what was seen in the building every day was a player who had great leadership, professionalism and passion for the game of football. It meant a lot for T.J. to play in his home city and we have the utmost respect for him as a man. We wish T.J. and his family all the best in the future.”

OG should now be a semi-priority pick-up in the draft also.

There are not currently any OG/RG available in FA that are worth any type of signing. imo.

draft another versatile OL which is also the much cheaper remedy. Let a young, inexpensive OL grow together.

5thnYear option will need to be picked up on Decker before May 2019 and Glasgow will need to be extended over the summer time.

We all knew it was coming.

Wiggins started all last year anyway so its not that dire. He is not good but at least he has been here a year. Crosby could be moved inside or even Wagner if we get a tackle that can start day 1. I would move Wagner inside and put Crosby at Tackle for now. Wagner got toasted all year by speed. He just is not fast enough anymore for outside. Crosby was not bad at RT when he filled in. He did not do too well at LT though so he pretty much needs to stay on that side.

I prefer to draft Tackles that project as Guards in this case, but if a a kid falls to us that shouldnt then that is fine too.

Wouldnt surprise me if he gets an injury settlement. Neck injury and Concussions. He is better off retiring.
