The next 2 starters we face are a combined 1-10 with an era around 7 and Pedro is still hot.

We went 2-0 with Lincoln and Correia starting.. more please.

We should all thank Weeks for hurting Mauer. He might miss the whole series. Sorry Lou, i'm glad he is on the bench.

Good first game of the series. :thumb:

Pedro needs to keep hitting. Every time he counters a slump with a big hot streak like this one, he gains a little more confidence and gets one step closer to figuring out how to be at least moderately consistent as a Major Leaguer.

where was pedros double. did it almost go out.
his balls really seem to be carrying.
he also seems to have decent speed on the bases as well, with a lot of hustle.
he is quiet and non expressive, and some seem to interpret it as lazy, but he seems to have hustle and a lot of effort in the field. he never seems to be dogging it.

Off the left field wall, right around the 383 sign, it looked like a HR off the bat.

I agree, Pedro has decent speed, and he always runs hard.

The Bucs should light Liriano up tonight. He has awful road numbers. I just worry that effect will work in reverse, and he will shut them down. Pirates have a habit of helping struggling pitchers.

I'll be at the game tonight, Friday, Saturday. That's gotta be some kind of record.

My premonition was correct. Liriano rolled back the clock to 2006.

Yep..... you called it.

Games like that really get my goat. The Pirates are playing pretty well, and here's a game they SHOULD win..... but they looked completely inept against a pitcher with a 7+ ERA.

- On one hand, it's difficult to predict what might happen on any given day. (Hey, the Pirates COULD beat Scherzer and/or Verlander this weekend. It COULD happen.)

- On the other hand, a truly good team should have won last night's game (at least 9 times out of 10).
