back surgery.. looks like we'll have a longer look at boboosh than we thought.. cant say i'm upset about it at this point, but i dont wanna get too high on bob yet

There's just no doubt that the Flyers are much more comfortable with Leighton having surgery and being out for three to four times as long if they know or at least have a good feeling that Bob will be a capable starter in his absence.

Unfortunately I picked up Leighton in our fantasy league, but it won't hurt me much as he is on the IR already and I have two other goalies.

Local article from yesterday from Philly.com -

Flyers goalie Michael Leighton continues to make progress since undergoing back surgery on Oct. 11, and Saturday he will be on the ice for the first time since the operation.

Leighton traveled to Pittsburgh to be with his father, Terry, as part of the Flyers' father-son bonding trip this weekend.

"I'm going on the ice Saturday to skate around and see what I can do," Leighton said after watching the Flyers' morning skate Friday.

Do we want Leighton back??? If Bobs is the starter, I would prefer a Boosh backup.

IMO - Leighton will easily unseat Boucher for the back up spot.

...and I'd rather have ML tutor Bob than Boucher. Boucher is only here to collect a check...nothing more. Leighton actually wants to be part of this proud organization and do the right thing.

i think boucher has the passion to be a flyer for sure, but i agree, leights and bobs is the tandem once he gets back

I just fear Leighton not being as effective as a backup. Boosh has played the backup role several times in his career and has been great at it. Giving his team a chance to win every game hes called on when the starter needs a night off. And I would prefer a veteran to help mentor Bobs...once he can understand english haha
