I feel like I am EXTREMELY late to the party on this one, but I just learned that he has been in the Giants org for the last 13 years as a roving minor league pitching coach.

How has this never been mentioned here?

I didn't know that either, but I am glad that is the case. I always admired Lee Smith, and his whole approach. Big guy, great mechanics, kept things simple, went with his strengths, very professional. I'm sure a pitcher could learn a lot of valuable things from Lee Smith.

This makes sence. The giants have tended toward the BIG power pitchers, so having Smith work with kids is a natural.

Kind of makes a little more sense as to why we devote so many draft picks to power relief arms out of College.
