Last year the Bengals could have traded McCarron

The Browns would be an obvious canidate because of the Hue Jackson connection. The Vikings probably put in a bid for every serviceable backup in the league after Bridgewater got injured.

Lapham's on the payroll so maybe they're floating this out as misinformation to try and increase McCarron's value.
Turning down a 2nd and a 4th makes absolutely no sense.

no WAY a team actually offered a 2nd and 4th for a BACKUP qb with minimal experience, and the bengals didn't take it. no way. not buying it.

McCarron is worth a 2nd. He's better than 1/4 of the starting quarterbacks currently playing in this league. If they were really offered a 2nd and 4th, they should have taken it. They'll get less this season, because AJ didn't play this season and their backs are against the wall to move him. I'm guessing they'll end up settling for a third and a conditional pick.

They aren't getting a 1st rounder for McCarron. Not happening.

If they were offered a 2nd and 4th and passed they are fucking retarded. Well, moreso than usual I guess. As Kramer put it. Retarded squared.

Trade him to the Browns for their 1st 2nd round pick and their 3rd Round Pick, they still have their 2 1st round picks and a 2nd.

First 4 rounds for Browns:
#1 - Myles Garrett, DE
#12 - Dion Dawkins, OT
2nd Round Pick - Amara Darboh, WR
4th Round Pick - Kyle Fuller, C

QB - AJ McCarron

Bengals would then have: 9th Overall Pick, 2 2nd round picks, 2 3rd round picks, at least 1 4th round pick, imagine we will get a 4th round comp pick for letting Kirkpatrick leave.

Let Kirkpatrick and Adam Jones go.

Try to resign Whit (2 years), Zeitler (4 years) and Burkhead (4 years - to become eventual split starter). Go WR with one of our 2nd round picks.

Draft from Rounds 1-4 with Trade to Browns (no specific order: DE, DT, OLB, CB, WR, C, OT)

5th Round draft best available Kicker.

6th Round Project QB.

7th Round Special Teamer

If the Pats are setting the price of Jimmy G at a 1 and a 4, the Bengals may do better this year than last. Not a certainty for sure, but it's possible.

The Texans are waiting for McCarron to become a free agent so they can offer him $75MM

I'd take McCarron over Jimmy G. any day of the week.

Jimmy G. is Matt Cassell all over again.

The Pats can set that as a starting price in negotiations but no is giving up those picks plus the huge contract Garropolo and his agent are going to ask for in the trade.
If McDaniels takes a job somewhere with a need at QB I can see him trading a second rder and a mid Rd pick.
I would happily take a 3rd for McCarron.

it could change sure, but the reports out there now are a 1st and a 4th are the starting price and the Pats aren't coming down from it. If a team likes Jimmy G better than the QBs in this draft a 1st and 4th isn't much compared to what people are trading for Goff and Wentz.

The Pats also have a QB who turns 40 next season so they have more of an incentive to keep their backup on the roster if they think he has legitimate potential as a starter down the road.

Also the big difference with Wentz/Goff and Gorrapolo is that they're on low paying rookie deals while Gorrapolo will probably want to get a contract similar to Oswilers. You're not just betting on the picks but on a huge percentage of your salary cap.
I'd be shocked if he went for a 1st and a 4th but crazier things have happened

I'm just not sure what people see in Jimmy G. I don't get how a guy with 2nd round talent (when drafted), is now worth a 1st, 4th, and big contract, when all he has done for the last few years is sit on the bench and watch Brady play. Doesn't make sense to me.

Can't say I'm in love with the top qb prospects though, so maybe that'll drive the market.

Sold my business. Got a new job, new house, and been busy as crap. I read all the time on here, just can't post from work much anymore.

I say the Browns 2nd and 3rd round picks. That sounds right to me, then we can watch McCarron tear us apart every year.

The time to trade McCarron was last offseason. After a few halfway decent starts and a playoff appearance. He has now sat out an entire season. I highly doubt his value has gone up with his lack of game film.

I also doubt the Browns will want McCarron, nor would the Bengals be willing to send him there.

Couldn't agree more.... After his performance in Denver last year, his stock was probably at its highest. He played better against that D then many other accomplished quarterbacks and should have taken a 17-0 lead into the locker at half. He also showed poise coming back to take a late lead in the playoffs.

He would be a major upgrade in SF, Chicago, Buffalo or New York. He'd be a guy you could build on.

I'd also take him over some of the crap you find in other cities including Jacksonville, LA (not happening), Houston, and Cleveland.

And he's probably at least as good as Cousins is in Washington.... And a lot less expensive.
