Every year some team goes undefeated for at least a portion of the year. This year the last team to post a loss was the Eagles.
Does that make them the best team or Superbowl winner?
History says that only one team that was the last team to lose a game also won the Suprbowl. That team was the 2006 Colts.
No other team in the 22 years of football this century has bucked that trend. Not good odds!
Is it because they peak too early?
Or they faced an easy schedule?
Or just blind luck?

We won't know until February. Something else to worry about @RememberTheKoy

His facts do seem correct for "22 years of football this century"
  • 2009 Saints went 13-3 in regular season... they lost their last 3 games of regular season (Wks 15, 16, 17)
  • 2009 Colts went 14-2 in regular season... they lost their last 2 games of regular season (Wks 16, 17)
Therefore the 2009 Colts were last team to lose in regular season and lost Super Bowl to Saints

8 times the last team to lose in regular season lost the Super Bowl... that seems more probable for Eagles:
  • Weak NFC - good chance to get to Super Bowl
  • Strong AFC at top
  • Philly already lost finals for MLB, MLS.... NFL would give they city a trifecta for the 2022 regular season

The big thing about the 06 Colts was Bob Sanders coming back healthy. They went from the worst run D in the league to an elite defense. You see that kind of variability with the Bucs imo depending on how well Devin White plays.

2017 Chiefs had Hunt, Kelce and Hill and was better on offense than expected because of that. The Cowboys of all teams figured out Alex Smith and the wheels fell off when teams copied that. The defense has holes in it, too, but that's the Chiefs most years these days.

Last year's Cardinals team struggled with injuries and they aren't a deep team and aren't well coached.

2020 Steelers were the opposite IIRC. Well coached and deep team that just wasn't talented enough to be a SB winner.

2018 and 2019 teams were a couple of plays away from winning the SB. Both teams lacked an elite QB but I'm not really sure they were ever solved or anything. They just got beat by Brady and Mahomes. Rams upgraded at QB to Stafford and won their own

RTK is gone since the midterms didn't go his way. The Eagles losing doesn't help.

I would imagine injuries could play a roll there, or like you said peaking too early…

Cool stat but I’m not sure if it holds any weight. I feel pretty good with where the Eagles sit right now. They’ve played 3 poor games in a row but are still 2-1 in those games. I’m glad they’re catching this little lull in November when they have 7 weeks to get recentered.
