Without Ellington, the Lakers bench is a 2 man squad. It's pretty bad when you're praying for Nick Young to return as if he was some sort of basketball holy savior or something, but that's where we're at right now.

There is some monies available due to the medical exception filed by the Lakers for the situation of both Nash being out and then Randle going down. Mitch is scouring the NBA for some help because Ellington has received an indefinite furhlough from the Lakers and the NBA because of his father's death. I am sure Mitch will make a move here shortly to shore up our troops.

On Kobe becoming the all-time missed shots leader:

Dan Patrick had an interesting take. He said that you have to be pretty good to be the all-time leader in missed shots. It means you've been good enough to play for a long time and have gotten a lot of shots. Considering the other 4 on the top 5 missed shots list are Havlicek, Hayes, Malone and Jabbar, that's a pretty good list.

He also pointed out that Reggie Jackson is the all-time strikeouts leader and Brett Favre is the all-time interceptions leader. Being among all-time leaders in categories like that isn't always a bad thing.

Young isn't the savior but he'll be a significant contributor off the bench. They are seriously missing his firepower.

They have a full roster, so they'll have to free up a roster spot before they can sign someone with the Randle DPE. They haven't been awarded a DPE for Nash yet. His situation isn't as clear as Randle's. With any luck, they can find a team looking to trade for a $9mil expiring contract.

The greats aren't afraid to fail.

The thing I find funny is that the Kobe haters will credit achievements like his total points on longevity but will credit most field goals missed to him being a horrible chucker.

I think the Lakers can win tonight. They have been playing well and hopefully the keep it going in the right direction. It could be a really positive game for us as far as the season goes if they keep it up.

We will lose this game on the boards. If we can win that we can do well. Especially if we protect the ball.

I agree Lakersrule, it's just a little disheartening to look at the roster and see 1 maybe 2 guys who can consistently create their own shot.

Well so far not good. They are allowing penetration and they swarm but not enough. They leave open passing lanes. They either gotta go all in or not at all.

I love how Ed Davis doesnt play outside of himself. But i also think he can bring a lot more to the table.

They have an indefinite furhlough exemption on Ellington thus there is a roster spot open Lakersule. Its a similar thing they did last year with Brooks and Bazemore.

Kobe is leading the league in scoring again. Maybe he can win tonight's game by himself.

The ball has been moved WAAAY differently then in the first games. They are moving the ball starting away from Kobe. Kobe is working way more off the ball.

You knew the Mamba was going to come alive eventually. Perhaps he had one of his skids to start the year which is very unusual. I still maintain his conditioning was really holding him back. And instead of play less he seems to be playing more. Maybe to get conditioned faster>?
