I defintely think the Celtics will offer it barring another serious injury.

I am not 100% sold that it is the best thing for the team long term, but they will offer.
Kyrie will have more than one suiter this Summer and the Celtics know that.

If he isn't open to leaving money on the table, they have to max him or he's out.

They can still offer more than other suitors without maxing him out

Yep.

But, will he accept it?

Kyrie is a different kinda Dude.

If he wants a certain number and the Celtics balk, I wouldn't be shocked if he left.

Again: This is all spitballing.

I have no idea if they will try to low ball him, if he is willing to give a discount...etc.

:dhd:

He’s supremely confident in his place with the Clippers, the franchise where he says he wants to finish his career.

“Hell, I never imagined I’d leave New Orleans, but there’s no question this is where I want to be,” he said. “I want to win. Here.”

Exactly. I mean, I don't think it's ever a bad thing to hear, arguably your best player, say that he wants to stay.

But we all know that things can change in a heartbeat.

He could have chosen not to say anything, but he chose to say that, which certainly isn't nothing.

Certainly better than saying "Get me out of here or I'm gonna have surgery". lol

I understand that fans love expression of loyalty, and I understand why.

I just don't understand a player making verbal promises well in advance of their ability to actually commit to it. Why lock yourself into something or setup a potential PR/reputation issue?
