The NFL and its referees continue to show blatant bias against the Bengals, whether it was that horrific fumble/knee-down call or deciding not to suspend Aqib Talib for doingeverything wrong on and off-the-field, but do suspend Vontaze Burfict for three games. (Side note: Just one more game until Burfict is back!)

I find it ironic that Lance McAllister has been posting non-stop vines with Pitt OL holding, and now the NFL has reacted by starting to take those vines down. Lance had 3 vines with clear, and blatant, holding removed and he simply found 3 different instances of holding to replace them with.

NFL officiating is an absolute joke.

Holding gets a big thumbs up in the NFL. So easy for the refs to control the outcome when it's f'ing ambiguous.

The only way to overcome the bias is to develop new expectations. the refs are in large part doing it subconsciously. it operates on the same subconscious principles that has people believing ouijia boards are a gateway a direct line to satan.

the refs expect the Bengals to do dumb shit, so they are ready on the spot to call them on it.
the refs are surprised when the Steelers don't do well, so they are slow to hinder them with penalties.

it all occurs on a subconscious level without the refs even knowing it. the only way to get a truly subjective opinion is to acquire refs like we select people for jury duty; however, those people would know nothing about american football, so it would be ridiculous.

one day refs will be replaced with robots who will have no preconceived notions whatsoever. fans of huge markets will complain, and fans of small markets will love it. then the NFL will magically go bankrupt.

I agree op!
The NFL and Refs made such a big deal about keeping this game clean, and then come out and blow all those calls. They should be fined and suspended for doing such a bad job!

My question is: Were the calls made or not made to help the Steelers, or to hurt the Bengals? Most people are on the side that the Steelers are NFL goldenboys who get everything slided their way, but I think this has more to do with an extended punishment for the Bengals making the league look bad in the playoff game.

you see it all the time in little league. refs are often volunteers, they are also parents/grandparents. they might not be consciously biased, but they are unconsciously biased, and your brain will play tricks on you.
I guess it would help if players were in the news for bad shit less.
I don't believe the refs are that shady, they're just human, and brainwashed without knowing it.
