There's a different delay between analog and digital cable...

Which one are they trying to match?

I would assume digital, because most of the listening area doesn't live under a rock

They do specify Hi-Def.

All TV stations now broadcast HD Digital over the airwaves by law.

I have tv's in 4 rooms. Only one has a HD Digital cable box w/DVR and gets about 400 channels.

The rest are just hooked up to the basic 65 channel cable and are Standard Definition.

Not everyone has a Digital cable box w/DVR.

Are they matching the HD Digital signal being broadcast over the airwaves or the HD Digital signal coming from the Digital cable box?

There is a few seconds difference.

back to the OP, this can easily be achieved if you have a DVR and a pause button on your remote

Isn't the radio usually ahead of the tv since the radio is usually a true live feed....

Thus why the radio is delaying their signal to match the tv.......

I've never tried to match the two up, so I don't know which one lags the other.

I just know there's a time difference between over the airwaves digital, standard definition cable, and high definition cable..
