twitter is fun to read sometimes. Sometimes, since I follow some serious reporters who report on serious world stuff, I like the links to real articles. The rest is just like bubble gum, mindless minute or two reading stuff.


Will say, the value of twitter depends on who you follow. I don't follow azzholes or some talking head like herbstreet.

I actually like Herbstreit. It's obvious he is bored here and knew people would react, which he could react.

I like how twitter can have different uses. You can get tweets text to your phone. For example, NCAA wrestling national tournament, I got iowa updates in early rounds sent to my phone at work. Great for high school level updates if there is something at that high school tweeting.

the thing about twitter is not to send posts, it's to get quick links to breaking news. if you want to send shit out, you're a troll. If you want quick and easy access to real news, real stories, from real writers from real publications around the world, it's a good access point without subscribing to 50 different publications. At least that's how I see it and use it. Depends on who you follow. If you follow idiots and trolls, that's what you deserve.

If you want quick and easy access to real news, real stories, from real writers from real publications around the world, it's a good access point without subscribing to 50 different publications. I have 2 following me and both are people I knew a long time ago who must have searched for me for some reason. I think I've made a total of 10 or so tweets?

Twitter has its place in the modern era. I mostly use it to follow sports reporters to get links to news stories I care about and rarely do I read any responses by the public to those tweets. I'm actually surprised when I see people like Herbstreit engage in back and forth tweets with the public. It really isn't a smart thing for them to do. If it is true that you can't fix stupid, then it is also true that you can't fight stupid on a mass scale.

I don't even read the people I follow honestly. Shit is boring as hell.

I only use it to post links when I add blog posts to my website, or like when I did preseason rankings etc. I think in my 62 total tweets I have like 3 actual comments, and like 5 retweets.

i have two followers I don't give a shit about. Retweeting would be gay, but then I don't run a site I'm trying to promote either. If I had a site like yours I'm sure I'd solicit followers and would do some promotional tweeting through it and pass along relevant retweets.

I just think the average joe doing those things is kind of lame, but then tweeting to your friends isn't that much different than posting up here. Just a different way to have a conversation.

Absolutely. Twitter, when used right, is invaluable to a sports fan. I resisted for a couple of years, then spent 6 months just perfecting who I followed for the teams and sports I like and now I know I'm going to get breaking news as it happens. Twitter is great if you use it right.
