This is an elite season for Elway:

4,000 yards 26 TD's 10 INT's while completing 63% of passes.

He had a career completion % of 56% percent. His defense, great TE and great RB carried him. One of the most overrated QB's of all-time and isn't just me, A LOT would agree.

It's funny you mention Kosar bc his elite season you could legitimately say is better than Elway's best "elite" season :pound:

John Elway started 5 Super Bowls. Kosar started none.

Comparing the two is like comparing Brady to Romo.

Romo has pretty stats. Great. He still never went to a Super Bowl.

To be fair, if Cousins had Jim Harbaugh as a coach, he'd probably have a pretty decent winning percentage as well.
Somewhat fair but that Niners team also had a really good defense and a stud RB and a good Oline when Kap was having success. Washington was okay but never that good and yeah, Jay Gruden aka Chucky light. I think it's safe to say that this season is make or break time for Cousins. He really has no more excuses. The team around him is solid and nobody can fall back on the learning curve narrative anymore. If the team has a mediocre record again, he could be on the long list of epic failures in the NFL.

And how much of that was Harbaugh? Where did that Niners defense, stud RB, and good O-line go once Jim Tomsula took over? Same team, different coaching, vastly different results. Harbaugh is the only reason we know the name Kaepernick.

Oh, no doubt Harbaugh was a huge factor and was able get the most out of Kap. But defenses figured out Kap as well and I think Harbaugh could see that coming. I was just pointing out the team talent issue as it relates to Cousins and the excuses people have made for him. And obviously, Tomsula should have never been on NFL HC.

So glad the Skins (yes I said Skins) are not dealing with Cousins. He’s great when everything is perfect around him. Off script...ugh. Nationally televised...super ugh. Nice guy, but OCD and neurotic in his ‘method’. Wish him the best but glad he’s with the Vikes.

Perfect example of a guy who will have flashy stats with no substance. Just not a winner. And another thing I have noticed about him is he never holds himself accountable. He always says things like "the play didn't develop as planned". He doesn't throw his team mates under the bus but he never says " I messed up".

Yeah because it worked out SO well for the Skins moving on from him.

It is QB's like Haskins as to why I was glad the Vikes initially signed Cousins. You can win with Cousins. But yes.....you have to create a damn near perfect system for him to thrive in. And that is DAMN tough to do when you get against good defenses. I'm not ever sure you would be able to make a SB run with him because there are just way too many good defenses between you and the ring once you get in the playoffs.

The other choice is drafting a project like Haskins. And then you spend years wasting on a QB that very likely will never even be average. We as a franchise have done that too much over the years.

For instance let say the Vikes didnt sign Cousins in 2018. They probably spend their 2018 1st round pick not on a QB prospect that they love....just the next QB prospect on the board. And with that you never know what you are going to get. And drafting the wrong QB's can harm a franchise just as much as drafting the right prospect can help a franchise.

<Goes to the internet to see what QB prospect would have been on the board in 2018 when the Vikes were picking.....sees it was Lamar Jackson>

Wait! Can I change my answer?!?

Minny was built to win now and had the defense and the weapons to do it. Case f'in Keenum got them to the conference final. Not saying Keenum could have repeated that performance but they certainly had way too much faith in Cousins being the guy. Again, somebody was just looking at numbers on a stat sheet that don't tell the whole story. The Vikings window has closed now, imo. Diggs is gone on offense, Cousins is what he is at this point. He will never get better. And that once powerful defense looks really bad now. Condolences @ducky and the other Vikes fans but I have doubts they finish above .500.

Damn, and with that extension Kirk can't go anywhere either. Mind is stuck with him through 2022.

Since these two are always getting compared due to the same draft class, here is a career comparison of Kirk vs RW...

No doubt, Skins F’d the Cousins situation on all fronts. And lest you’ve forgotten, let me remind you of the toxic ‘relationship RG3 played with his personal relationship with the Danny Boy that basically got Shanahan and son fired. All that played Into the personal feelings of Cousins. Then their was Scot McLoughan and his backslide into drinking again floating around in the back drop to further poison personnel issues. The error came with not meeting a very reasonable offer from Cousins and agent that was turned down...leading to hurt feelings...the franchise tag (2x) stupidity and the inflated price of a good not great QB that functioned fine with good pieces around him.

May I mention how stoopid our front office is again?!

Skins fans are used to the massive dysfunction of what was the putrid combination of Bruce ‘winning off the field’ Allen (thank the lawd, he’s finally gone) and our Napoleonic midget of a sorry excuse of an owner.

About Haskins...you could be right. He’s played 9 games, had no off season, turntable coaching staff, An injured, make shift Oline this year and a bunch of youth surrounding him. Don’t think the verdicts out on him yet but that’s just my opinion.

Hey Cali long time no talk. Don’t say that on the Skins board or you will be escorted off the premises.

LMAO. I haven’t been around the board for quite awhile. Got tired of the politics showing up regarding the name and other shite as well as the never ending circular arguments about Cuz and FO dysfunction. Wouldn’t surprise me if the board tired you out as well. A few good posters I missed, you were always one of them. I popped my head in after the first game cuz I got rooked back in  with our young DLine.
