Hard to blame him, he is just looking out for his best interests at this point and the time has long gone past when Washington would have offered him a reasonable Long-term deal. The Redskins have their new QB in Alex Smith so move on.

And KC will win it.

Probably. But the FO could have an argument (albeit a weak one) in trying to tag him. What if the Alex Smith deal falls through? It won’t be signed until after we can slap the tag in him correct?

I doubt it will happen, because I think Dan and Bruce should know they are in a no win here. But if we try to tag KC, Cuz won’t sign it, he will file a grievance, and the tag will be rescinded. Simple as that.

He is fully in his rights to do so. But I Agree with @VT. The team could make a legitimate argument on a couple of fronts. But they aren’t going to risk it at this point. Time to move on.

So, what QB are we taking with the 13th (or lower....)?

PFT had something to day on the matter:
As one source with knowledge of the manner in which Washington president Bruce Allen does business put it, Allen will try to conjure up something in an effort to salvage value for Cousins and, in turn, make it harder for him to hit the open market and finally get the long-term contract he deserves. As another source put it regarding Washington, “They are in the pettiness game.”

The pettiness game could blow up in their face.
...
And so if Cousins is tagged and he signs it, there’s a good chance Washington would be stuck with him. Since the tag window closes a week before the new league year begins, a decision by Cousins to sign the franchise tender before March 14 could, in theory, cause Washington to back out of the Alex Smith trade.

There’s also a chance that Washington would tag Cousins and, if he doesn’t sign it, rescind the tag later, after teams in search of veteran quarterbacks have signed who they want — and after the free-agency market softens. But as Washington demonstrated two years ago, even a late-April decision to remove the franchise tag won’t keep a great player from getting big money; that’s precisely what happened after the Panthers removed the franchise tender from cornerback Josh Norman, who quickly signed for market value in Washington.

There are so many ways that tagging KC again could go wrong. And now Cousins brings up a new one--he'll file a grievance that he might win. Forget Cousins, if the trade falls through, Alex Smith could file a grievance against the Skins, claiming that they negotiated with him in bad faith all the while knowing they'd tag KC.

Funny thing is, people have been trying to push the angle that Bruce has always handled this with the best interests of the Redskins and good business. This has been petty, personal and a bit childish on the part of Bruce for damn near five years now.

Take it a step further, will this make people hesitant to come here? Probably not because it is always about money.

Will this be taken care of in the next CBA? Without a freakin’ doubt.

@Sharkinva used to be in the FO!!!! It’s all making sense now :gaah:

On a serious note, I would be shocked if BA truly tried to go this route. As much as I feel his pain and would love to get a 1st or 2nd for KC, it ain’t happening. It would most definitely blow up in his face. Can’t believe even Dan would give the ok on this.

NAh... I used to actually enjoy being a Redskins fan. I hope to some day enjoy it again before I die. So as a general rule of thumb, never make a hobby or past time your job.. because you get to hate your hobby that way.

As for getting something for Cousins, the only thing w will get is weekly updates if his team losses, and weekly you guys should get over Cousins posts already if Smith losses. :thumb:

You'd have to be a nincompoop of a high orderlast 3 years to believe that bullshit. Don't leave out hard-headed, short-sighted and triflin.

And enough with this fantasy football bullshit. If our stupid mothafuckin FO wanted value for Kirk. They should've traded him a year ago or sooner. How in the fuck can you have what will be arguably the most sought after FA coming up in the off-season. But instead of getting anything from anyone for him. You fuck around woi6th him for 3 seasons and end up having to give a 3rd rd pk and your best young CB. To acquire a QB who overall maybe a loittle better than your FA QB or he might not be. And he ends up with 70 mill in guaranteed dollars.

So in the last 3 years. 114 million dollars have been committed to the QB spot. Yet our FO couldn't find anyway to work out a deal with your previous QB.

Two jackasses = Snyder/Allen.
