That is the same grade that I had given out team. With basically the same analysis about the players.

Washington Redskins: C+ Grade
Goals Entering the 2014 NFL Draft: The Redskins don't have a first-rounder, so they won't be able to upgrade their roster very much. What they can do is find some potential starters on the offensive line and front seven. Some help in the secondary is needed as well.

2014 NFL Draft Accomplishments: Washington found two potential starters with its limited picks. The team did a good job of trading down, so it was able to acquire both Morgan Moses and Spencer Long on Day 2. I wasn't very high on the Long selection, but it's possible that he could beat out Chris Chester at right guard. If Moses doesn't start right away, it'll be a minor disappointment.

I didn't like the Redskins' first pick very much. I'm not going to rant and rave about it being a reach like Todd McShay; I thought the middle of the second frame was the right spot for Trent Murphy. My issue is that it means one of two things: Murphy will be a career backup with the Redskins, or Brian Orakpo will be gone in 2015. I don't think that's a good message to send to the team.

Washington also made strange choices. Long was taken too early, Ryan Grant was unnecessary, and a kicker didn't make any sense. I did like the Bashaud Breeland pick though.

Overall, the Redskins had a pretty average draft. They found two potential starters and did a nice job of trading down (robbing Dallas in the process), but some of their selections made little sense.

I think its an accurate assesment. I still support each of our players and hope they are successful for us.

Switch Gabe Jackson for Long and replace Hocker with the best punter available and its easily a B+.

I have read half a dozen accounts that say Hocker was a dart board pick and Long can be good "if" healthy. I hate hearing those words.

I agree. You add Van Noy, Hageman, Tuitt, Attachou, and replace Murphy and Gabe Jackson for Long its an A. People on here don't see that. Long has a lot of pressure on him.

Van Noy isn't a redskin. Let it go Dean. Who gives a shit what Mcshay/Kiper thinks.

dean ... if in three years Van Noy is a stud and Murphy is bust you can give everyone hell but rignt now it's only opinion. You can't judge a draft the day after, it takes three years to see how things pan out.

I agree. If you want to grade a draft, we should be looking at the 2011 or 2012 draft. That would be a more productive discussion.

im not judging anything. just giving my opinions after the draft. I just watched the espn draft grading special. Kiper actually liked the Murphy pick and gave him a 2nd round grade. He stated that Murphy was on his big board for a full two weeks. What I cant understand is that if he liked the pick why did he give us a c+??? It should of been an A. Nobody can argue the Moses and Breeland picks. He must not of liked Long. Mcshay gave Murphy a 4th round grade but said he is a tough player. I can see that. Murphy does look like a well rounded player.

Maybe it was our drafting a kicker? :noidea: Only 3 teams drafted specialists.. Bears drafted a punter in the 6th round and the Redskins/Lions drafted a kicker. Forbath apparently only forced 14 touchbacks last season.

of course everyone will support our players.

And of course draft grades a few days after the draft are perhaps the most meaningless thing on the planet.

Mel Kiper Gives Redskins C+ Draft Grade - Hogs Haven

Here are Kiper's grades for the last draft. I am not impressed - it sounds like he didn't even like the selection of Reed which was a no brainer - some expert. Last season's draft is a good example of why you need to wait 3-4 years before evaluating a draft. None of us know how Amerson will pan out over the long haul and DBs sometimes take a while to develop. Reed - on the other hand - should be a star but you never know given some of the injury concerns.

Oh well - have fun with these grades, but there is no reason to take any of them seriously.

In an era where there should be very few returned kickoffs - Forbath is atrocious in this area. He was part of the reason why the special teams last season were probably the worst in Redskins history.
