Yeah I liked Iginla and thought he was very effective in LA. If LA could add a little speed to the Top 6 and drop Iginla to 3rd line/Power Play specialist, that would be an ideal spot for him.
For Thornton, there are so many flags. First and foremost, what no one mentions is that he just messed up his ACL and MCL. He's 38, but not a super clean, Jagr, great for his age 38. He's a beaten up 38 right now.
I know Thornton has been an all-time assist leader etc., but there are certain comments, even recently where you see why he hasn't won anything major. Heading into the finals last year they asked him if he was watching the Eastern Finals to get ready and he said "no". He said he was going to play with his kids and enjoy being with them. As a man, that is great, and he sounds like a very well-adjusted individual, but there is a level of drive I believe is required in order to win on certain stages, and I don't think Thornton has that.
I wouldn't mind Bonino but he went to Nashville. I think Joe as a 2C between Pearson and Toffoli could work, he could create plays for them. Plus we take him away from a division rival.
That said I do agree that the risk with his age and injuries are there but given what is out there.....
I am happy he is on a rival, not sure why any King fan would want that guy.....I am concerned Iginla isn't signed and they went after Cammy. I am not sure what everyone is expecting to happen this offseason but if there is a "big deal" happening I am positive it wont be good for the Kings. I guess the hope is that Gabbs/Cammy = 1 decent season on the wing....which could be ok I suppose. Kempe will be good, I think a speedy puck mover on D is something they could use.....but who couldn't.
